NoCD patches & Windows XP
Hi there,
Can anybody explain why the following happens: I have made back-ups of most of my games on my previous computer, which ran WIN 98 as OS. Since yesterday I have a new PC, running WIN XP as OS. All of a sudden, none of my back-ups work anymore; everytime I try to start one, the system says 'insert original disk and try again'. This wasn't the case with WIN 98, where all my back-ups worked perfectly fine. Are there patches that are specifically for WIN 98 and thus aren't compatible with WIN XP or something? How do I solve this little problem? Thanks in advance! |
try updating your cd-rom/dvd-rom drivers. That meight work.

the problem is that win98 and winxp are written in a different format, with xp not running anything that isnt a 'win32' application. you should look for a crack from gcw that says win2000 or winxp compatible, i believe. it took me FOREVER to find a diablo2 version that would work.

Right click on a *.exe file. Go to properties. Go to the tab compabilty and change the compabity mode to windows 98 or something. This way you can use applications that can't be runned normally in XP
