Windows XP
Everytime I replace the .EXE file in XP it creates a backup copy of the file. How do you turn that feature off in XP??
don't know but why don't you delete the backup copy?
Never seen that happening before. Huh? Let me think.....
can you copy and paste the exe in ? XP is trying to make ur computer experience as out of your hands as possible, but at least it doesnt crash (often)

Hi,
I don't know if u can turn it off. It is part of the new "roll-back" facility of XP. It will automatically backup any crucial files before replacement. U might want to try the Microsoft knowledge Base. They may have something there to help u. But I think it is a "hard-coded" part of windows that u will not be able to get around. U know what Microsoft r like. Regards, Einstein |
which exe did you replace?
try everything you have read and everything you can think of...
actually, just delete the old exe before you put the new one in. then, what is there for xp to back up?

you know...sometimes it's so easy you just forget it....:p
