Pioneer CD-Writer for Stereo-System
I apologise if this is the wrong forum to ask this question as this is my first post on this site.
A friend of mine has purchased a Pioneer PDR-W739 CDR for his stereo system. It will not accept cheap CDR's. Is there a way around this, e.g. an hack. Or failing that is there a way to format cheap CDR's to make them the same as the music-only ones. Or where is the best place in England to purchase music-only CDR's if all else fails. Many thanks, Wint. |
Sorry m8 - I can't think of a solution to your compatibility problem at the moment.
Apparantly audio-only cd's are different from cd-r one's in that they hold some extra info. Perhaps this could be the reason why cd-r discs are not playing? I know of some audio-only hi-fi recorders that can be "modded" t accept cd-r discs, but how cheap this procedure is I don't know.. I think I know of a place where you can get CHEAP audio-only cd's: I get the Traxdata one's for 6op each (cheapest I saw them in the shops was £1.50 each), but you can also get most other brands as well. Have a look at ####://www.computermarketsonline.co.uk/. This is the site of both the Scottish and Northern Computer fair. I visit the Northern one - every couple of weeks it comes to the West Midlands at Wolverhampton/Birmnigham. You just pay £3 to get in, but obviously you'll more than get this back once you stock up on goodies. All manner of computer bits (new & used) can be bought for very little. The best one Iv'e been to is at the Adersly stadium or teh race track in Wolverhampton; plenty of stalls and friendly service. Also, you can buy 1 ir 100 - there's no minimum purchase! The only problem I've found with the audio-only discs is that you must burn them at a low speed - often 4x max. They are not designed to go any higher (Traxdata technical support told me this). So this could be a bit of a drag in today's 16x burner market. Hope this helps. Good luck m8 :-) |
Many thanks for the help Wayniac, I'll probably try the Bowlers
Computer Fair in the near future. Thanks again Wint. |
