BackUp starts, then freezes
 

I just decided to try a backup of a game on my PSX 1 after I put a mod chip in and I get to the title screen of the game and then nothing. I've read that once you get past the black Playstion screen then the mode chip isn't used any longer so i'm assuming that's installed ok. Any other suggestions?

might use a dif burning program
 

this place has 3 dif programs u could use and it tells step bye step on how to brun useong these programs

Protected Games
 

have you checked that the game you've copied isn't a protcted one?? Check out the list on www.megagames.com. I had this same problem but solved it after i patched the original with CDrWin

I just check and it said no, so I guess i'm ok there. I'll just have to wait until I can get things together and try a different program. Thanks.

What copy program did you use??
Clonecd is the best for straight copy,
CDrWin is the only one to patch a game (So i'm led to believe)

Also depends if the Modchip was installed correctly, have you got
any Pre copied games to try on it?

Can an incorrectly installed mod chip still allow the game to get to it's title screen? I do not have any preburned working copies. I used CDRwin to burn the image, but left all settings at default and burned at 4x. After reading the tutorial previously mentioned, I see that was a no-no. When I get a chance I'll try it the "correct" way and see then.

Badly Installed Modchip
 

Don't think a badly installed mod chip would even let you boot up
Think that your playstation would start to smoke and scream "I'm going to explode".

Try downloading Clonecd and using that to backup a game, i had this problem to start off with, found out in the end that my playstation is very fussy about the type of media used as well, it loves either Intenso or Discplanet White top.

Well, I finally was able to try it out using the tutorials and I'm happy to report %100 success on two games. Now, do you know of any good newsgroups to get them in? Or anywhere else? irc to damn slow and I hate wadding through the FTP jungle.
