CDR media for older car player

Have a '93 with Bose AM/FM/Tape/CD player. The only CDRs that even work sometimes, and a bit shaky then, are Prodisc under the IBM brand. I've tried Sony, Fuji (Taiyo Yuden), Samsung, Memorex, and Maxell. Is there a particular brand or type that is known to work in these older players? Regrettably, due to the nature of the Bose system in the vehicle, switching it out to a newer player is not an option. Any guidance in this area would be most appreciated.

Any Luck?

I read your message and I am having a problem with a Honda CD player in my CRV. Works fine with over-the-counter original artist CD's I get at the store but won't work with CDR's I burn. I have heard different media or settings will solve the problem. Let me know if you unlock this one.

I'll start with the most obvious (just to be sure and cover it). Have you burnt a heapful of mp3 as a data cd, or have you created an audio cd (the correct way - will hold about 20 songs)

Try burning at a lower speed - try 4X for test purposes. Also you won't be able to use CD-RW as the drive won't recognise them.

Oh yea - I see this is an old(ish) topic which shows you have searched the forum - even if it was just to the bottom of the page. THANKS. Not a lot of ppl do that. :) They usually go ahead and make a new thread

the most obvious thing to do is buy a new car with a new cd player

problem solved *wipes hands*

I've had a similar problem in a Volvo estate. Try using Kodak Gold Ultra (I get the 80 minute ones that come in jewel cases) and see if they work.

Weirdly, the ones that come on a spindle look the same but are a bit temperamental.

650MB CDR is meant to be best as it has larger tracks (700MB CDR is done by shrinking the tracks), I use CDRWIN (not RAW read) for audio and write in mode 1 ISO master x4
