DON'T BUY HP BURNERS

Why?
1. They can't overburn
2. If you have a problem there is no 1-800 number...its long distance
3. If you get through to tech support you'll be lucky you get somebody that don't tell you the problem is not w/ the burning but w/ your computer(they're not sure what part but its not the burner)
4. If you know it IS your burner because of your technical expertise they will look of the error in their "books and manuals" and will come back 15 mins later on a long distance call and say "I don't beleive it!"
5. Chances are you'll have to phone tech support more than 2 times..and still get the same bullshit...is this #####ed?...is this #####ed..?? what is this set too??(if they would have read your case they wouldn't be askin you these questions on a long distance phone call)

How do i know this? lets just say that i've had many...many...many encounters....and wasted over 3 hrs of long distance and still nothing was solved. Luckily I'm in Eng. Sci. and know a little about computers! Apparently Im not the only one that has suffered.

SO BEWARE! DON'T BUY HP BURNERS!

My 8200i died. I hardly ever used it. Of course the warranty period has passed. I will never buy another HP burner. I just ordered a Plextor 12/10/40a for 180 bucks. Sweeeeeet deal!

HP Burners are definitely not all they're ADVERTISED to be. I have a 9140i that constantly has buffer OVER-RUNS (not under-runs) and that is at 4x-write speed. I finally had enough and bought a Yamaha (CRW2100EZ). This 16x10x40 burner definitely will fly. My HP has now been demoted to a fast CD-Rom.

I've had no problems with my HP 9110i
I had to sort my software + firmware out at first but then every one a winner
It seems to be the newer models with problems
