Very Bizarre Civ III Problem
 

Hi, I'm new here, so take it easy on me.

I'm having so weird stuff happen with Civ III. I was having some trouble with it, so I was going to uninstall then reinstall it. However, when I went to "Add/Remove Programs" and told it to uninstall Civ III, the only thing that happened was that it added the Civilization3.exe file to C:\WINDOWS.

After that, I tried manually deleting the folder and reinstalling after I did that. But when I try reinstalling now, the setup program asks if I want to completely remove the application, etc., then adds the .exe file to the Windows folder like "Add/Remove Programs" did.

I've tried doing everything I can think of short of reformatting my hard drive. I've used WinDoctor and DiskDoctor, Cleansweep, RegCleaner, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well since no one else has responded I'll try. I had the same problem. I was doing a bunch of things at the time so I don't remember exactly how I got rid of it but I think I reinstalled it to a different directory then uninstalled it with no problems. If that doesn't work and you have to reformat i suggest backing up your harddrive with nero burning rom after you've done the clean install. It has saved me a considerable amount of time and it's so easy to use. A quick format of the harddrive, then a boot into DOS with Win98 startup disk with cd-rom support, a simple command and you've got a perfectly restored system. I do a clean install configuring all my hardware and back that up, then I install my software and get it running perfectly then back the harddrive up again. Works great. Hope this helps you some.
