"don't repair sub channel data"

if my burner dosen't support "don't repair sub channel data" even though the cdrom can read to image file with sub channel data etc does that mean i would be wasting my time? trying to copy the likes of sd2?

YOU don't need to tick that for SD2 games, which one do you wan't to copy!

I have done the following without needing to tic Don't repair subchannel data:

TOny Hawk2
Delta Force 3
Alice

none in particular, but will it rule out playstation games?

U will be able to copy psx games but only ones that re not protected (these tend to be older games). If u wish to make a 1:1 copy of a protected psx game u will need the dont repair subchannel.
U can however copy protected psx games by using cdrwin and patching the image file this will work for all protected psx games as long as there is a patch avaliable.

Would this rule out using Nero 5.x as well, to copy protected games?

Thanks ~

I think so, u shiould use clone cd neway it is by far the best programme for copying protected cds and a lot of burners are supported. But u will need to select dont repair subchannel in clone cd if u dont have this then patching is the only way.
U acn find an evaluation copy of clone cd at www.elby.de

Ok, I have a burner that does not support sub cahnnel data. I have backed up Black and White, which is rumoured to be SD2, #####ing all but the sub channel data box.

Nero will not take out any form of copy protection, like clone cd will. However, being able to read sub-channel data should not effect copying in nero. It is tru that to clone a psx game and take out the copy protection, you need to be able to read sub-channel data.

By the way, Clone cd V3 beta is out if you are interested.

Sd2 only requires fast error skip to be enabled it does not need subchannels to be enabled as no data is placed into the subchannels.
