Have you ticked Fast Error Skip with retries=0 correction=software?

packer 02-03-2002 13:15

some drives take long to read, up to 8 hours. My one cd took 15 hours to read!

gh0sth@cker 02-03-2002 14:04

God - how'd you survive. I've no patience

podunkviller 02-03-2002 15:12

if it takes that long, omg, doesnt that horribly shorten the life of the drive? get a liteon or a philips (notice lack of plextor ;)

gh0sth@cker 02-03-2002 16:21

As far as I know the Acer's are Clone CD compatitble - and have been able to backup SD2 is some cases.

podunkviller 02-03-2002 17:47

um. you linked to elby. it said acer. it showed that they are compatible.

gh0sth@cker 02-03-2002 19:26

Thanks for that confirmation - I thought I was goin stupid.

gh0sth@cker 03-03-2002 05:03

Not all games require Subs, most games don't in fact, as most games are now protected by Safedisk 2 - which has weak unreadable sectors - no subs required for it.

Also, this drive writes in RAW-DAO16, which means it can write subchannel data.
Granted it can only read in Raw - which means it can't READ subs, but it can write most. Solution = read from a a different drive that can read subs. [Source: The very same one you used]

packer 03-03-2002 07:28

@ghosthacker, i started it at around 8pm and then left it on the whole night and then when i got back from school it had finished!

so it didn;t bother me that much.

@zedy, being clonecd compatible means that it will work, it doesn;t neccessarily mean that it would make perfect Backups of everything, as you say it needs all those stats to be so. the stats are just to show you what it will be capable of backing up perfectly and which not. aslo the Acer 1210a and the 1610a could do SD2 but not the latest version
