I need help.

As my name suggest, I am an annoyed mother. I have 2 kids, 2 1/2 and 4 1/2 year old. We bought educational games for them but they want to play them all the time. Since I need my computer for work, we bought a used Celeron 266mgh for them.

To make my life (and their lives and the lives of the cd-roms) easier, I thought of copying the games on the hard drive so they would need (or loose or destroy) the cds.

I tried and it did not work, the game still asked for the disk. I wrote to the companies and they said it could not be done.

Now someone directed me to this website where I've learned about no-cds and such. Now I did NOT expect any of you to have made a no-cd patch for a 4 year old's game.

My question is: is there a program out there that will allow me to make such a patch?

Or is there a website for 4 year old hackers???

Thanks

Desperate mom.

well this is a first!:)

well there are such programmes but they are for specialized protections. You need to find out what it is protected with. it is probably just cd-check but get clonyXXl and use that to find out what it is protected with! you can get that at cdmediaworld.com
or the link at the top of the page!

After that let us no....but i doubt as you have already said that there are any no-cd patches. what you can do also is e-mail the exe to someone and ask them to crack it and the mail it back to you....

Thanks Packer

I downloaded clonyXXL. I am not too fluent in German (even if I downloaded the English version) but I did my best to understand. The disks are not protected except for one. Which is good because I can make copies of them, hide the original and let the kids play with the copies until they scratch them to death.

Regardless, I'd still want them to play directly from the harddrive.

But theoretically Packer, if Deamon Tools makes a virtual cd drive and you make an image of a game which you mount on that virtual drive, shouldn't you be able to play the game without the need of the cd? Just play it off the virtual drive???

Still, I tried and it does not work.

Maybe I'll try to get Rampage's e-mail address or VLuka or DDS.

Thanks

Mom

well, daemon tools should work but you have to tick the emulation...have done this?

AnnoyedMom 14-03-2002 14:55

well it worked.

Very easy too, maybe it depended on the size of the games (between 150 and 300 mb) but I made images of the games with clonecd and mounted them on virtual cd-rom drives and installed them from there.

It works.

A SUPER HUGE THANK YOU TO YOU PACKER AND THEMIS!

Oh and btw, my son was really exited to learn that Darth Maul answered my post :-D.

Thanks a lot

Happy Mom!
