Help with no-solder mod

Hi all, I just got a ps-2 scph-30001 R (that is a version 5 right?) and I want to order a no solder modchip for it. Are there any sites that are shipping to the US? Thanks for the help!!

I'm looking into this chip also. Anybody have one? Would you suggest it? What's with the thing where it won't play 80 minute cds? Thanks.

I got one, works perfect, i can't complain, it does have a problem with dvd rips with large TOC but so far thats the only flaw.

No solder mod chip?

Hey guys. This may sound illiterate, but oh well. I have never heard of a mod chip that doesn't require soldering. Being that I have never had any experience in soldering, normal mod chips for my Playstation 2 are out of the question. Could you help me out by telling me about it by posting a message or emailing me? Thanx a lot.

Check out www.gamegizmo.com. They have the "Solderless-Mod" you're all looking for. Keep in mind, ECW, that just because it says "SCPH 30001 R" that doesn't mean it's definitely a v5... It may still be a version 4. (Check inside the expansion bay slot in back for the extra screw.) And it actually is solderless JZ, because it uses the plug in ribbons from the RESET and EJECT plug.

Ok. Bought a 'no-solder' from Game Gizmo. However, having 0 luck booting DVD-R backups. I've read the problem is with GS ver (I have both a 1.6 and a 2.x). Could someone please elaborate on which ver # exactly I need here please (because atm I'm one pissed off mofo).

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Tril

Try this.
Step 1
Boot up PS2 with the GS2 v2.x

Step 2
At main menu, press eject and swap GS2 CD with a PS2 Original DVD Game.

Step 3
Press Eject to close (Wait for 20 seconds).

Step 4
Select any Game code list, and turn on or off any code on the list, then press start to go to the with/without codes menu

Step 5
Select with codes, then Press X. It will say “Update Code List” and the dvd stops spinning.

Eject the dvd using the rmod method and replace the dvd with the dvd-r, You have aaabout 8 sec, tray will close and game will load.

dont buy scph 30001-r

just bought a ps2 scph 30001r thinking it was a v5 but in fact it was a v4. just because it has an R doesn't mean its a version 5.
Hope this helps. I got three solderless mod chips and can't do crap with them.

The only sure way to tell is the # of screws in the expansion bay, 2 screws =v4 3 screws =v5

NightStalker (or anybody who can help)

Can you clarify something for me. I have a PS2 SCPH-30003R. I have looked inside the expansion bay slot, there are 3 screws (if the PS2 is horizontal) on the top part.

Does this definately mean that it is a v5 ???

Cheers

yes, It's a v5.

4 NightSTALKER

Hi Nightstalker,
I just installed the solderless-modchip in my PS2 (I'm in the US)and it was palying my first PS2 back up well (pro evolution soccer PAL version). At half time, twice the screen froze on me !!
Any clue on why this happens??? Is it because of how I burned the back up ?
NEED HELP !!
THANxx, Papero

NightStalker 18-03-2002 12:46

I am not familiar with that game. Having said that as long as the backup is not over 640mb it should play fine. It may be a bad burn or it may be something as simple as a finger print or a scratch on the cd.
