Could you please provide more detail. What happens and is displayed on the screen? What sort of ring exactly where? What noises does the pS2 make? What model PS2? Has it any NEO2.2 prior history? How were the DVD copies made with which burneer, media and firmware?

Can't diagnose on what you've said.

hya charlie...
i know he uses the AO3 to burn dvd's.....don't know what firmware..
i have a version 3 board......when i had the 2.2 in, it wouldn't play dvd r, but didn't leave a ring on the disk!!

laser doesn't make any abnormal noises. put the disk in, reads for a few secs and goes to the browser screen.

my mate has done the same game for a lot of ppl and they all work fine with the messiah.........theoretically it should work with mine??

i would appreciate any info at all mate
cheers
andy

The ring might be due to gunk on the disk tray? Guessing. There can't be enough laser power to actually burn the disK? Nah.

But if it's a NEO2.2 there should be a capacitor installed at pin 2 to avoid overburn. Don't ask me for details because I've never had NEO2.2.

Yet the common factor is that DVD-Rs won't boot in your PS2.

The burn needs to be with firmware 1.65 or later otherwise it's unreliable especially on cheap media.

Most likely though it's a laser problem. Like the laser is shot.

Don't know what else to suggest.
