could someone unconfuse me with regard to dvd-r's

Hi,

I'm sorry to post another message regarding dvd's, but searching through all other posts has just confused me more.

I believe i have a v4 ps2. i have a neo 2.2 modchip and Action Replay version 2.02

I can play cd-r backups most hapily. however will it be possible to make use of dvd-r's ?

i'm thinking 'no'.

to quote a reply from 'charlie_ps2'
"If you have an earlier PS2, then you need AR2/1.7 or 1.9 to boot DVD-Rs. Difficult to get."

however i was slightly confused where it says AR2/1.7 does this mean you can use an AR2 or an AR1.7 or is it action replay 2 version 1.7.

hmm, think i know the answer actually.

if i could download the AR 1.7 or 1.9 cd. could i use it with the memory card type instrument that i need to use with my current version of Action Replay.

hope this makes sense to someone.
and if anyone replies, thanks in advance.

yes u can !

uacn use your dongle (the momery thing) with a different version of ar2
and there is a mothed to double swap for dvdr
on neo ps2 with ar 2
it quite messy though and charlie would recomend origa instead

Subzero is ****-on. Neo2.2 is now past its sell by date given what's been happening with AR2 versions having to keep up with changes to PS2 versions.

Simple or no swap procedures are now the way forward. if you have a PAL PS2, then the MEssiah/CLone (which is becoming available again) is the way forward. It is a no swap chip - evrything.

If MEssiah is difficult to get, then Origachip is the way forward because that too boots everything (incl. import originals) but all backups require a very simple swap.

Any chance you'll accept this advice?

Hey, thank you both for replying.

Firstly, could someone point me in the direction of this 'double swap' method which would work with my setup that subzero spoke of?

I am interested, however, in the 'no swap' type of chip charlie mentioned. Could you give me more information about these chips? my existing neo 2.2 chip could be replcaed by one of these if needed?

cheers,
tim.
