Weird problem
 

I think I may be asking a easily asnwered question but...

I'm trying the no cd hack for Diablo 2. The trouble comes when I try to copy d2music.mpq off the cd. I did this before with the same cd-rom but different cd and it worked then, but now the file transfer dialogue will get very close to finishing before coming with a [Cannot read from the specified device] error and quitting. I thought the cd was unreadable at those specific sectors, but I can play the game from the cd without problems, hence it can be read it.
I can't figure out whats wrong, and I admit I don't know alot about cd-drives.

The dc itself is semi-scratched near the edges, with some horizontal scratches that have trouble being read.

just to clarify, when I said copy, I meant copy and paste. I have tried burning the whole cd, but that failed
