absolute newbie to patching. help me!!!
 

i have recently got a pc and would love to know how to patch games. after lookin through this site down loaded win.ace and a patch for age of empires II and the conquerors expansion, now i'm stuck and dont know what to do. Realise i have to swap files over but dont know how. Please someone help it would be much appreciated. Ta much.

Unace the .ace file with Winace. ####://www.winace.com

Then replace the real exe with the new one you downloaded.

ok, done the un-aceing bit, but dont know where to find the file(.exe) that i have to replace with the patch, sorry to be a pain.

If it's a an exe you got in the ace file, then replace the exe you start the game with, with the new one. The original one will be somewhere like C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\AOEII

If it's a patch for the game then there will probably be instructions on how to apply it.
