New person needs help

I need to backup some cds, but i`m confused about some conflicting things i`ve read on here. I copy audios with Nero, and i can backup any psx game with Clonecd my Ricoh cd/rw which handles all the subchannel data and Raw DAO stuff.
PC games seem a bit more difficult- do they always have to be patched or, as i read on here, can a 1:1 copy be made and played straight out.
The games i want to backup are Operation Flashpoint, Commandos 2 and Desperados.
If anyone can help with patches and what to do with them, which ones to use and how and when to use them, it would be very helpful.

Thanx

Get a scanner, find out what protection are on each of these. then, if you got a good scanner (clony), it will tell you the proper settings to make a good clonecd backup. not all games have to be patched, unless you want no-cd or something :)

Sorry for probably sounding a bit thick, but what sort of scanner and where can you download these from.

Does this no-cd thing mean it alters the game so you don`t have to play with the disk in the drive?

OK, i`ve found clony and i`ll try that.

One more thing, what about Unsafedisc, is that a similar tool or is it best for using with the safedisc 2 protected games and nothing else.

Unsafedisc is not for someone who's burner can handle any safedisc game. leave it alone. its bad. evil. plus r!sc stopped making updates :)

Unsafedisc is very usefull actually but as r!isc has stopped them then they will only work with recent ones and older ones but not the latest one
