Q3a hasn't needed a CD in the drive since the 1.16 or 1.27 patches.
Now if you're looking for a working CD-key thats a different story.

i have quake 3 arena version 1.30 (q3pointrelease_130.exe) and i am using NO CD /FIXED EXE

i got my no cd file from megagames.com/gcracks.html
