Backup copy for Sims Hot Date not installing
 

When I make a backup copy of my original Sims Hot Date CD and then try to install the game, the installation does not let me proceed further after I enter in my serial number and press NEXT. There is a message saying that it cannot find the CD or something of the like. Is the original CD I purchased defective? The original CD installs fine but I don't understand why the backup won't even install. Are there any files I need? Also a note: I'm not looking for a no-CD game file.
