Please explain how to install a no cd patch
 

HI everyone, I am new computer user and would like to use CIV III without the cd. After I install the game and have downloaded the no cd patch how do I go about installing the patch, where do I put it. I am not sure what to do. I own the game, I am not looking to use a burned copy. I am going on vacation and would like to eliminate bringing so many CD's with me.

You will need a program like winzip or winrar (available from www.download.com). Download the no cd patch. double click and when it asks for unzip destination, you need to choose the directory the main game is in. it will ask 'do you want to replace the file'. choose yes. BINGO! the game should no longer ask for the cd to play.

I have Zipmagic but when I download the file it is saved as ace file and my computer always prompts me to pick the program to open the file with. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

try winace or winrar (preferred) as they will open .ace files for you - zipmagic wont open it :)
