how can i copy a protected game cd using NERO?

Get a copy of Clone CD and Clony - find links on GCW.
Then what you need to do is read up on all the protections. I can't tell you how to copy a "protected game" cos there are many different protections each needing different treatment.
A bit more information and I might be able to help.

Also - it can depend on what CD-writer you have.
