Commandos 3: Men Of Courage

It says on GameCopyWorld that this game is protected by SafeDisc V2, I done a copy of this yesterday, all 3 cds, all i found was CD Checks ...

Clony didn't detect anything either ....

Later ...

Stuff up, should be Commandos 2: Men Of Courage ... lol

Morglum007 16-10-2001 07:07

Actually a lot of games are sfv2 and securom protected and clony for example doesn't detects it.I think these commercial anty-copy now implements something like cd checks or this copy-protections programs is malfunctionning.

Sorry for my poor english....

Try to download the last version of ClonyXL, and possibly with the TCCD Database, I've checked the same game with ClonyXL and it correctly tells me that this game is safedisc 2 protected, the database gives also the correct settings and the proper devices to copy it.

1st Thing - If this game was protected by Safedisc V2 it would have Read Errors between Sectors 850 - 10045 (there abouts anyway). When I copied this there were NO read errors.

2nd Thing - The game EXE (comm2.exe) is not protected according to SafediscAnalyser, I load comm2.exe then SafediscAnalyser askes for the .icd file. There is no .icd file therefore it can't be protected. All Safedisc V2 protected EXE's don't have .icd files that i know of, only Safedisc have.

Commandos 2 is SafeDisc2-protected - believe it or not. ;)
(At least the English and the German version are)

CD 3 has 'unreadable sectors' (the two other discs are not protected and not checked) and SafeDisc Analyser reports Safedisc 2.30.31 on the comm2.exe.

Commandos 2: Men Of Courage

I'm in Aus, which would be the same as English version.

CD 3 has no 'unreadable sectors', i just checked again to make sure before posting this ... :) ... SafeDisc Analyser won't analyse comm2.exe which i have, either i have got my hands on an US release, or here in Aus its not protected.

Very highly doubt that the game would be released without some sort of protection, but then you never know, they might be dumb enough to trust us Aussie's .... :-D ;)

hmmm....well, which program and burner u have to copy? In this case, I should use the Safedisc v2 settings and then I'd try to burn it...of course use a CD-RW so I can use it again, if the copy fails...
hope this can help.

Well, that isn't impossible.

The first games, which were published copy-protected came protected in Germany (cause there are so many burner users in Germany ;) but unprotected e.g. in the USA.

My UK original (yep I do have a few!!) has no protection on any of the cds, and there is no cd check in the comm2.exe file.

It does appear that some releases are not protected. Not quite sure why that is....maybe they've fecked up!

gfhdfhdyjftu 21-10-2001 17:40

it has safedisc v2 if you would open ur eyes look on cd 3 on the american english cd who gives a #### about ne thing else it has a file names 00000001.TMP that file or file 00000002.TMP are on safedisc cds there u go does that answer ur ?

no cd protections work 100% witch means companys waste their money=0

ThE ÑiGhTcRaWlÊr 22-10-2001 05:53

Well, I went to return a few games I hired last night & asked the guys there where did they get Commandos 2, was it an import?

The answer was "No, Its the Aussie retail version."

Therefore I would say there is a few versions running around like crispy has said, some protected & some not.
