OF: F.A.D.E. - trouble (?) - please h e l p

Greetings -

I made a copy of "Operation Flashpoint" yesterday and used the crack of megagames.com.
I actually thought that I wasn't affected by F.A.D.E. for the game was working properly.
However, when I played the first Single Mission where I have to steal that car I couldn't
find it but for once! The Extended HUD showed that I was standing right in front of it but
it wasn't there. I re-installed the game - the car never came.

In another posting it is said that I can detect F.A.D.E. being active by a *.rpt file. That
file isn't there, though. I searched the whole HD.

I made the backup with Blindread and Nero 5 since CloneCD and DiscJuggler didn't work
at all. I would appreciate any help very much.

Thanx
Chester

have you tried reinstalling with original and using that to see if car is there? and then use backup too see difference?
just a thought.

actually i´m running a backup without problems.
first is to full install the game.
i used to create an image with CloneCD, that took just 1 MINUTE and 40 SECONDS !!!!!
(plextor 16x R,win 98se)
then i used DaemonTollz to mount that image and the game works fine.
actually i´v been playing 18 missions since yesterday.

two hours ago i made a backup-cd and it´s running as well.

Thanks for the replies so far.
What's bothering me is that F.A.D.E. is supposed to kick in DURING the game and not right at the beginning. However, I reinstalled the (working) backup and nothing changes BUT there is no *.rpt-file anywhere either so can it really be F.A.D.E. at all?
If yes: Is there any crack to disable it coming up, what do you think? Or is it virtually impossible?

Thanx ... --

i have also made a copy of flashpoint, i chose the ground attack on the single missions, i was to destroy the convey, i went to the designated location, convey wasnt there, the convey had moved to forward towards the village.

In the original manual of flashpoint, it said that the information such as the location of the vehicle in the first mission of single player may not be accurate as its only gathered by Intelligence, info gathered by intell may not be accurate so the location of the vehicle may be different. I guess they were trying to be clever with all this AI and simulation stuff.

So far i havent had any problems with Flashpoint.

I maybe being daft, but the car is not where the waypoint is its on the outskirts of the town somewhere, just of the road.

Hi !!!!!!

I have played the game a little the car is not at that point, but it is near by, so have a good look around !!!

gRRRk 11-07-2001 00:49

argh! me for one is pretty fed up reading about ppl that still are talking about this car...

get this.. it's not a bug, it's not FADE it's not an error, it's not a miss designed mission...

so what is it? you might ask?

well... The reason why it's not accurate is bcuz you supposed to look for the car.. they say it's "somewhere" inside the town.. and that doesen't mean spot on the waypoint. search for it!, in any way.. this ain't a bug!

dazthetaz 11-07-2001 02:53

just to highlight wot the last guy said the idea of fade is to downgrade the game slowly if it doesnt detect wot should be the original cd,,, i dont think they had in mind .. actually moving things around to p*&^% u off........:-)

gRRRk 11-07-2001 03:50

ppl having both versions are having the same problems, so this FADE stuff is just a lame excuse.

BOT 11-07-2001 06:52

FADE=FAKE!!!!!!
100% sure!!!!!!believe me,I posted the reasons some days ago here
