BNW Help! Lets Get This Shit Resolved!
 

I like many others have had difficulty copying this game with the instructions from GCW. If somebody could give a step by insignificant step analysis of the copying proceedurte please do so. I have read all the postings and it still deosn't work! I put in the CD and I get please insert the proper CD ROM! Can somebody please help. Thanks for your patience!

I did have some problems with getting this to work but in the end itwas because I did not follow the instructions carefully. my fault :P.

I'm not sure what software you are using, but I just use the standard adaptec easy cd creater.

As the instructions implies (i'll add to it):

1. Create the following temporary directory:
TempDir : C:\TEMP\CD
2. Copy the full contents of the original CD to TempDir.
3. Extract the Executable Archive to TempDir. (note only 1 file is needed) :P ####://www.gamecopyworld.com/cgi-bin/dl.cgi?b_w_sp!rar)

4. Extract the I6COMP.EXE from the I6Comp v1.03 archive to TempDir. (here u go :P ####://www.cdmediaworld.com/cgi-bin/dlcmw.cgi?i6comp!zip)

5. Execute BNW_SP.BAT from the TempDir to replace the game executable in the installation files.
6. The batch script will remove the obsolete files!
7. Burn the contents of TempDir to a CD-R and use the same CD-Label as the original CD. (note make sure that it says BNW)

8. Remove/Clear the TempDir.Play the game!

If you get a stupid error such as wrong cd or please insert right cd, then it did not copy over the correct cd during the patch (lots of people get this error) Just reinstall the runblack.exe (that you downloaded from executible file b_w_sp!rar that you downloaded ealier. in step 3.

now try running the game with that copied cd. it shold work. If you are still getting please insert right cd or something to that nature, then it's mostly likely the burned cd was not name "BNW".

becauseof the safedisk 2 feature, it's very difficult to make an exact duplicate even if you have a good copying software such as clone cd (no matter what you click on in the options, it does not matter much). Some copiers if not most cannot handle safedisk 2 1:1. The instruction provided on gamecopy do work and it's a good one considering that it's a safedisk 2 cd.

My problem is completely different! I can run BNW with my copy if ive installed it with the original but the copy will not install because of a Safedisc thing comin up lookin for Data3.cab and now its f*cked up my Fifa2001 backup but not to worry \:(

Can I just add for those who are new to this copying malarky (like my self). Firstly no matter what setting I used I was not able to copy Black & White using any copying software. I tried CloneCd, BlindRead and Nero. No Luck! I have a TEAC CD-W54E with firmware 1.1Y and I know people have said this is one of the better drives but not on this occasion. The only way to make a working copy is to use the info on GCW. However I did encounter a few problems.

When I tried to find bnw_uk.bat I wasn't able to. I finally found it here: ####://www.gamecopyworld.com/cgi-bin/dl.cgi?bw_uk_cdcopy!rar. All it is, is a batch file which allows you to set all the file permissions correctly run the i6comp executable and then remove any unecessary files. Many may not know what a RAR file is. RAR files are archive files and are highly compressed, similar to ZIP files. To be able to extract them you will require WinRAR, which is simalar to WinZip. You can download WinRAR from www.rararchiver.com. It is used in exactly the same way as WinZip and can actually be used on ZIP files as well.

The procedure is then fairly straight forward. Once you have the files in your temp directory and copied the entire B&W cd into the directory. Simply run the batch file and then burn the contents of the temp directory onto your cd. You will now be able to install the game on your machine and run it even without the CD.

I hope this helps. I think its a waste of time trying to make a 1:1 copy of the original. I wasted many a night trying to do this.

It's only copyable with the right hardware, Phillips
or rebadged Philips, plus Acer 1208A, with Philips
chips, apparently.
The latest Teacs, Plextors and numerous other late models will backup SD2 but you can install and run them only from the (Writer).
