i dont understand how to extract a file .... i read a lot of stuff earlier and undderstand what most things are but actually doing some of it is quite confusing ., thanx for any help

extract what?if its a patch just right click on the patch zip click on extract and choose the dirctory it needs to go in .hope this helps
