SAFEDISK 2....some questions to veterans....pls read if you have time for that stuff.....

...ok....first the normal shit:

i have a plextor 12/10/32A and im using clonecd......

the thing i want to know is....:

it is possible to make a backup of safedisk 2 games which works on EVERY cd-rom???? i have no problem to make a backup which works in my burner but i want also a backup which is runable in a cd-rom like every one. i also heared bout things that the manufactors are working with the safedisk2-company together and that the newiest firmware updates became modify by the manufactors(like plextor) that it is impossible to burn SD2 protections. in the GCW topic "the truth bout SD2" (or something like that) a guy wrote that it is possible with an old version of updates to copy SD2 protections. so what is fact???? im using the demontool to run SD2 games couse i wont destroy for short or long times my plextor....with running my games bout him.

so my clear question :) : can i be happy to make SD2 backups which are runable in my burner :) ....or i have to be angry couse there are ways to make backups whcih are running in EVERY cd-rom which i dont know :( .......

thx for replies.... :) :) :)

Well the story is that you need to have a Plextor 12/10/32a TLA #202 or below. Then install Firmware v1.01. After this you should be able to copy all SafeDisk v2 games. Plextor with TLA #303 are above are protected from installing FirmWare lower then v1.05 so then you are out of luck just like me :( and have to wait/hope and hope that Plextor will fix the problem in newer firmwares.

U can try the following

Find a reader that can make a good image of your original disk.
this is what i mean:
While reading open the log file and you see at what sector you get read errors
they should be between 800-10000 more or less, when you read it with for example your plexwriter you get also errors between 100-800 THIS IS NO GOOD.
If you're image is good then burn it with your plexwriter and it should be oke.
My writer is an plextor 4220.

At my home, good readers are:
philips cdd3610, pioneer DVD 6x32x and Philips DVD 6x32x
HP writer 8x4x32 and 4x4x32.
Bad readers (for this method, not in general) are
plextor 32x, teac 532s

Give it a try with an rewriteable

Hmmmm, that is not quite correct !!! The new sectors are readable, so you will never get errors between 100-800 + 800-10000 when you read out an orig. CD with CloneCD or CDRWin. Also it is not true that you will have no problems with burning such an image. The image form a original CD is always correct, but you will get errors between 100 - 800 when you read out your backup !!! If your backup has this ADDITIONAL error range, it is the evidence that your burner cant burn SD2 protection correctly !!!!! That is the way it is !!!!

i would suggest you go to the cloneclinic web site, they got tons of stuff on plextor writers and SD2. And some very clever people, they tell way more than anyone here, apart from maybe a few regulars.
