Need to make sure my Playstation 2 Version...

Hi ..I have read most if not all the posts regarding on How to tell the difference between Playstation versions.. Unfortunately, I am still unsure if I have a version 4 or a version 5 US Playstation. Nightstalker said that if it was 30001R and it had 2 screws in it...then it is a Version 4 model. But I keep hearing people say that any Playstation with a "R" are all Version 5. The following info is on my new PS2 that I purchased a week ago.

SCPH 30001R
Driver 1.10
DVD player 2.10U
It has 2 gold screws in the expansion bay that holds a connector of some sort..
8 screws on the bottom

Can someone please verify which version my PS2 is ?? If you need anymore info please let me know..
I am planning to get a mod chip for it ..and thanks to Charlie..Nightstalker...Dust2dust and all the peeps that have been providing info for us newbies....I have decided to either go with Origachip 1.0 if my PS2 is version 4 ....or probably go with Neo 2.5 if my PS2 is version 5.

Also if anyone knows of a good online store to purchase modchips besides Lik Sang please let me know...
One last question ...does anyone know where i can find a Gameshark 2 version 1.93 ?

Thanks a lot ...I really appreciate your help...=)

Nightstalker is invited to confirm, but it seems that you have a v4R because there is no third screw. But the BIOS versions are v5 (which is what v4R is). You will need to confirm the position with Origa on that Bios.

I have emailed Origa regarding my issue.
Thanks Charlie =)

If you or anyone has something more to add please do so...=)

Its a v4. Good choice on modchips also, Origa is a excellent chip.

YOUR PLAYSTATION SHOULD BE A VERSION 5 IF IT'S THIS NEW; MY PLAYSTSTION IS A V5 SPCH 30001R WITH 8 SCREWS ON THE BOTTOM (I GOT IT FROM WAL-MART), BUT IF YOUR NOT SURE GO TO THE SITE WHERE YOU GOT THE MOD CHIP AND DOWNLOAD THE DIAGRAMS FOR BOTH VERSION 4 & 5 BOARDS
AND COMPARED THEM WHEN YOU OPEN THE PLAYSTSTION, HOPE THIS HELPS.

Walkerdog, 2 screws in the drive bay = a v4, Three screws in drive bay = a v5. Despite the model #. Not all 30001r's are v5.

Don't the 30001R v4's have the battery mounted on the side of the disc drive whereas the v5 got rid of that?

Yeah if its a version 4, the the battery will be clipped to the side of the unit, version 5`s are built into the board.

Jas.
