Does it really matter?...

... whether I copy a playstation game on to a 650mb CD or a 700mb CD? My friend bought an import patched copy of Chrono Trigger, and I decided to try and burn it. ( I have a mod-chip). I couldn't use CDRWin (my brother put in an illegal serial number...) so I used CloneCD. It copied without any problems.
But when I tried to play it, it said "Insert a Playstation Disk".
Is it because I used an 700mb CD or is there another problem?

Thanks

i dont think its the disc. i also copy on 700mb. do u have a modchip. i think that the serial code that u say might have to do something. it might me a way to protect it from copying onto another disc or something

Yes, I have a mod-chip.
The serial code has an effect, because it was a hacked code, it will only put out coasters. I know that already, which is why I used CloneCD instead of CDRWin.

I had that problem with cdrwin, if you use it without registering it should work but the problem is that you're gonna have to copy in 1x.

Hi,

It seems you have a Dodgey Serial ###, either get another one or use it in DEMO mode it may take a long time to backup your games but it should copy okay, Or you could register your CLONE Software. Do you even know if your writer is compatible with CLONE CD or CDR-Win???

I use 700MB CDs to be sure. And I ALWAYS use licensed copy software. It's so essential to making backups that it would be unthinkable to use a cracked version in case the originator's are cleverer than the crackers!

HI,

I have to Agree with what Charlie is saying, its worth spending a little cash on a full licensed version of either CDR-Win or CLONE CD, i use CLONE CD but thats just my preference.

But its also worth spending a few more pence on decent media, i know ive said this before but decent media is so important when making reliable, good quality backups.

Cheers

Well i also agree and suggest buying your own reg ### for CDRWin, its only a few £'s or $'s but reading the reference's to CloneCD got me a little concerned, no body mentioned the fact that it may not be 100% compatible with your burner and therefore would not be worth buying! If your burner is not compatable then this could explain your problem.

650mb or 700mb is not important at all infact there are NO PSX titles that require a 700mb disc.

I'd recommend downlading the evaluation version of CDRWin and running it in demo mode, o.k. so you will be restricted to 1x speeds (read and write), but at least you should be able to get going in the right direction!
