Medal of Honor image is 708MB. What CD-R for that ???

My question is al in the title.

I just made my second backup ever with Medal of Honor. What a fool ! After burning the image with CloneCD on a 650MB CD-R, I noticed the .img file was 708MB.

Geez, I don't think I can find and use on my writer a CD-R that is bigger than 700MB.

What I'm supposed

BOT 15-07-2001 07:47

You would be a fool if you thought that any PSX1 game needs larger than a 650 meg cd.

Cabral 15-07-2001 08:03

Why BOT-CK ?? It says it right there : 708MB .img file.

How an image so big could fit on a 650 MB CD-R ??

I' m new to all this backup biz, so could you tell me please.

THANX

BOT 15-07-2001 08:13

An image contains extra information.
Suffice to say it is irrelevant what size the image is, it is the size of original cd that the image is made from that is relevant.

Cabral 15-07-2001 08:27

Oh, I see. So all PSX game CD's are 650MB, right ?

If it is the size of the original CD that counts, then I can make backups of all the games on 650MB CD-R's.

Are there any exceptions ? What about more recent games ??

Cabral 16-07-2001 09:18

I need a confirmation PLEASE :

Can we or can't we not make backups for all PSX games on 650MB CD-R's ??

Are there any games that need to be copied on 700MB or over CD-R's ??

I was told by BOT-CK that the size of the image doesn't matter since a 700MB and over image will always fit on a 650MB CD-R ? Could anyone confirm this ?

THANK YOU ALL.

BOT 16-07-2001 09:45

I have answered your question with my first reply.
Maybe you are trying to look like a fool?

Cabral 16-07-2001 10:07

Sorry BOT-CK if you can't provide complete answers. I just want things to be clear, that's all.

Here is you reply : "Suffice to say it is irrelevant what size the image is, it is the size of original cd that the image is made from that is relevant".

Well then, is the size of the original cd always 650MB ? For me, that is not clear.

If you got a problem with that, just look elsewhere.

That is too often the problem with guys like you who don't remember that they also used to be newbiez. Just don't look down on people who are new to this game.

At my stage, we always need to have things confirmed twice. Just to be sure.

BOT 16-07-2001 17:09

You are a fool.
My first answer is plain enough -

Jeez BOT-CK u need to chill mate not everyone knows about backing up software so give the newbies some slack otherwise wots the point on haveing a forum , cause if u treat people like that then they just wont come back and i thought you would be encourageing new people to this forum.

BOT 21-07-2001 08:37

lars you can be new or just plain thick!
The answer was given in my first reply or are you too thick to grasp that as well?

Lars 21-07-2001 09:10

i wasnt going on about the answer wot i meant was the way you treat people
how you became a moderator i'll never know
very very arrogant
but thats my opionon 4 wots it worth

I don't think there's any danger of the forum not growing. It was 9,000 in February and it's more than 15,000 now and BOT-CK has helped the thousands as well as telling people, perhaps a little harshly, when they've misunderstood the point. Plus of course the wicked who stay with the forum waiting for BOT-CK's next gem!

In this case, it's obvious. A PS1 game has to be within the scope of a CD. So if it came off a CD (whether or not the img file is > 700MB), it'll go back on a CD. That's fairly obvious I'd have thought.

most of the time PSX games fit onto a 650 meg cdr! if your image is over that then put a 700meg cdr in your writer and burn! it should go on if your writer can handle overburn. most cdr can handle an overburn of about 10megs but it all depends on your writer.

what programme r u using to burn?
try flashing the rom on ur writer so it can handle overburn if it kicks the cdr out before its finished. if u need more help just ask i was a newbie once so i know wot it was like

There are thick people and thicker ones as well!
baron has been banned.
