What hardware do you have?

ram100 29-06-2001 16:40

I Have a HP CD-writer plus 8250i, it has 4x write 4x rewrite 24x read. CDRWin calls it 0:1:0 IDE-CD R/RW 4x4x24x 1.04
Im not sure what my reader is but CDRWin calls it 0:0:0 OIPD24T OTC-H101/ST3, also I know its a 32x max read.
For the computer hardware itself, I think a 36 ram, 300 MegaHertz AMD K6 3D NOW! prosser, it sucks I know, 4 gig hard drive spit to about 500, 2000, and 1500megs. Wil Deamon tools help?
Hope that's enough info :)

Not sure about this but according to its specs at Elaborate Bytes I don't think you can copy PSX with this.
Try installing CDRWin with its default values.
Select 'extract disc, tracks, sectors' and make your bin/cue files
Once done select 'record disc', select your cue file and burn it.
This should work with any non protected PSX cd.

ram100 29-06-2001 18:07

what do you mean by default values and what about Daemon tools?

backitup 29-06-2001 18:30

when you open up 'extract disc, tracks, sectors' click on restore defaults and have it on writing raw

ram100 29-06-2001 19:08

But shouldn't i have it ignore error recovery, have it read at 1x speed and 10 read retry counts for it to work?
I'm saying this because this is what the backup instructions for CDRWin at psx copyworld says, even though I tryed going by what it said and it didn't work, is because the instructions are wrong? :o

Everything you need right here:####://www.consolesource.com/support_options/online_manuals/CDRWIN/default.htm

If you set it to 'ignore' errors then you will never be able to get a true copy.
PSX cds do NOT have any read errors unless the cd is damaged.
THERE IS NO POINT IN TRYING TO COPY A DISC THAT HAS ERRORS!
Set it to 'Abort' and if you do get data errors then the source is NO good.

GranMacco 30-06-2001 01:59

Hey amigo! BOT-CK, you are wrong! If you dont ##### the Ignore Errors Section, the image isnīt works! I usually copy PAL games, and my no-errors bin isnīt worked when I tested it. About how to copy a CD, if you want to copy an already patched CD, use Nero Burning Rom with "Continue copy" and donīt fix errors enabled

BOT 30-06-2001 06:18

Just like I said GranMacco, If you read a bad cd then obviously it won't work.
All you are doing by saying 'Ignore' is to read suspect data and instead of rejecting it you are saying it is allright.
Bloody stupid thing to do.

pleaserelaxme 30-06-2001 06:59

I have never seen a US game with a read error, unless it was scratched!
You do not need to ##### ignore errors on a good disk, sometimes with a
scratched CD you can get a working copy by ignore errors IF the error is
not located on GAME DATA, most of a CD is MUSIC and MOVIE data.

I don't know if gamesharks will load a Backup or not, may need different
software flashed on the gameshark. Try your CD's on a friends PSX who HAS
a MOD CHIP, and GET a mod chip, it's the best way!

Do your burns finish good on your computer? Can your computer read your
CD's? Look at the contents, all PSX CD's should have a system.cnf file
and slus#. Some burners have weak lasers and PSX will not read a CD
recorded from them.

Even if you do not have a MOD chip, or any way to boot a backup, You
can usually tell if a PSX will read the CD from the CD audio player
screen. Put in the CDR at the audio player screen and at least 1 track
should appear. If no tracks appear then it can't read a CD from your burner!
