if i want to burn a protected ntsc psx game into a pal version how do i do that? if i have the cd image i just patch it so its not protected anymore but if i wana turn it into a pal game it says that the patch is not made for this game just because i already patched it.
how does taht work?

and what's the purpose of a ntsc2pal patch if the game is protected and there is no antiprotection patch?

A lot of protection patches will also have a PAL/NTSC selector built in!!
Try pressing triangle instead of X when starting from the Group logo page, or any other button, maybe this will change the display to NTSC!!
