CloneCD

i was just wondering if i cannot select "dont repair subchannel data" on the write options does this mean i cannot copy anti-mod protected games with clonecd?

Twink 21-04-2001 08:31

Your burner just doesn't support SubChannel Data 96 bytes. So you can't use Clone to burn your psx backups.... Too bad m8, just use cdrwin or blindread.

BOT 21-04-2001 08:56

You cannot use CloneCD to copy anti-mod games anyway.
You need CDRWin and a patch that defeats that copy protection.

i see, thanks for replying.

Wasn't you (or someone else) that said, in this forum, that if CloneCD works for you, it will CLONE A CD and you won't need to patch it whether it's PROTECTED OR UNPROTECTED??

Please clarify!

Thanks!!

If a game is anti mod chip protected then the original game will not play in a modded PSX. The game will detect the mod chip and shut down.Clone cd will make a exact copy of the game copying the anti mod protection as well. The only way to fix this is as bot-ck said with cdrwin and a patch.

Mini Maggit 28-05-2001 11:44

So,

CloneCD is ONLY recommended for UNPROTECTED games, right?

This is not the feeling I got some posts ago,... please confirm ;)

read what BOT-CK & WARLOCK as to say cd clone will copy protected games only if it 100% compatible. So if its mod chip protected the original game will not play so why would you what to copy it (i never come a cross a game protected that way but you do in the U.S i think)

Mini Maggit 28-05-2001 12:26

Hi!

I'm from Europe and it looks like we're f*cked up in terms of game protections or is it the oposite? At least FF9 looks like it's protected, right? ;)

OK lets try and clear up a couple of points here!

CloneCD is unique in that it can read copy protection from the sorce and record it to the destination, this is brilliant for discs that contain only copyright protection but for the few titles that contain anti mod chip protection then again, CloneCD copies this exactly to the destination cd therefore when the backup is booted in the PSX the protection is still initiated and detects the presence of the mod chip then the backup fails.

So in this event a patch is still required to make a working backup, and it would be best to use CDRWin in this instance!

Anyone who states that CloneCD will copy virtualy anything with copy protection on is fundamentaly correct, unfortuntly because of the way anti mod chip protection works coupled with CloneCD's ability to read and record it, then this is just a minor flaw in CloneCD's success.

Mini Maggit 28-05-2001 14:47

Ooooooooooook!

I think I get the idea now.

So then, the list at dccopyworld.com for PROTECTED games is the list for ANTIMOD PROTECTION, COPYRIGHT PROTECTION or BOTH?

And as for running backups... I tested FF9 (the ORIGINAL) and it does NOT run in B l e e m ! nor in VGS PSX emulators.

I wonder if it will RUN on B l e e m cast, the PSX emulator for the Dreamcast. Chances are that a YES will come, since B l e e m people already states that...

Do you wanna bet? Wdy thinK?

Mad Dog 29-05-2001 12:42

OK lets think bout it....

If the origional game has the anti modchip protection employed, the copy wont play in the PS, nor the origional game... so test the origional in your PS before trying to back it up.....

As the rest said if it is antimod protected use a patch, ppf-o-matic and CDRwin to burn a working copy of the game..

?**Has anybody got a list of the antimod protected games for PS2?**
