HELP!!! I'm new to the PSX board I have a very important question for you

I have a version of psxcopy(I don't know which one cause I'm not at home right now) on a cdrom but I don't know what it is capable of doing. Does it burn psx games straight? Does it burn DC games straight? I'm really asking how does it work? I might have have an older version since I have had it for a little while. I'll post the version of it when it get home around 1. But beforehand what are the differences between the older versions and the newer ones so I will know ahead of time the capabilities of it. Thanks

Your best bet is to use Nero or Cdrwin for backing up games. You can copy disc to disc with either of those and they are the best programs out there for psx games.

if u wanna do some serious copying then cdrwin is the program to go for, its the easiest program (if not one of the only) for patching psx games and is good for making straight off copies for unprotected games as well.

www.megagames.com has a list of popular burning programs for playstation games and how to use them. Use whatever program u find easiest to use, or can get hold of, but personally i recommend cdrwin, although cd-clone does seem to be the new upcoming favourite for psx games at the moment, which is good as long as you have a cd-writer that is actually supported by it.

neway, hope that helps,

Warlock has beaten me to it agiain...

Yes clone and cdrwin are the best backup software available for doing psx, clonecd has some obvious advantages if it works with your burner. i.e. you want need to bother patching copyright protected games only those that have modchip protection detection.

If your burner isnt supported then CDRWin is the one to use, especially if you need to patch the image to the bin file, Blindread can also produce a bin file so this maybe another one for you to look at.

The difference between old and new versions are generally, bug fixes, extended support for newer burners and banning of hacked reg codes you may get the odd cosmetic change aswell.
