PSX burning woes

I can't seem to burn a PSX title without getting audio stutters during FMV. I've tried just about every combination of the following:

1) CDRWin and CloneCD
2) 1x read/write up to max read/write
3) 8x generic media and PNY 12x CDRs
4) Create image from CD writer (Yamaha CRW2100E) and also my DVD/CD player. I always write to hard disk first. I haven't received any read errors.
5) Been trying different PSX titles from 1996-1998 range (monster rancher, parasite eve, etc.)

The best I have done was with CDRWin and the max recording speed (16x) - my 1x read/write attempts have TERRIBLE audio. I've been using the recommended software settings for CDRWin and CloneCD that seem to be the consensus.

Any thoughts? I think I need to focus on the WRITE portion of the problem - I'm pretty sure I'm getting a clean read. Maybe different media?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm pretty sure others are burning PSX backups ok with the Yamaha CRW2100E and the same software so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks!

I have a yamaha 6x4x16 scsi, and I use cdrwin with very good results.
I use memorex and tdk cd-r's, and the audio and video are great..

I found some 16x 80min Memorex CDRs for sale at Best Buy. Would these be good?

Also I am very interested in hearing from anyone else using the 16X Yamaha burner for PSX backups - how are your experiences?

Thanks!

1) How old is your Playstation, it could be that it is getting on a bit??
2) Maybe your laser needs a slight tweak, I don't know how to do it myself, but this could be the reason, as the CDR is slightly different to an orignal Playstation disc.
3) Try playing the game with your Playstation at an angle or even upside-down!! May sound weird, but try it, it works!!!!

Hope some of that helps you,

Good Luck! ;)

there are some useful lazer tweaks on the repairs section at www.modchip-uk.com

I tried that URL (www.modchip-uk.com) but it doesn't seem to work.

I'm not sure if there is a problem with the console - I can play backups I get from other people. I did finally burn one game (Bug's Life) that worked fine. All others stutter. I did make one that the movies play flawlessly but it hangs in the actual game (arg!).

For some reason when I burn slow (1x - 4x) I get the worst results.

Do I need to make my CDR drive the master?

Oh - I have the SCPH-7501 model, which doesn't typically have the lasor problem.

Been doing some reading and I will try the upside down and at-an-angle approaches to the see if this helps. If so I may look into POT adjusting.

Thanks for the inputs.
