ARE DVDRW WORTH THE INVESTMENT???
HELLO I WAS JUST WONDER IF THESE NEW DVD BURNERS ARE WORTH THE INVESTEST OF 500 TO 600 DOLLARS? WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH A DVDRW THATS DIFFERNT FROM CDRW? AND CAN YOU STILL COPY DVD GAMES WITH CDRW? IS IT COMPLICATED IF SO?
THNAKS FOR THE REPLYS... |

What can you do? Well, although you said DVD-RW I take it you meant DVD-R(ecordable). CD-RW won't read in a PS2 but oddly enough a DVD-RW will! The DVRs (as the single sided DVD burners are known) will reliably burn PS2 DVD games according to the steps set out at ####://www.psxcopyworld.co.uk Unless you go into the horrors of DVD ripping to CD-R, copying a DVD game to a DVD-R is the simplest method of making backups of such games. |

I got the pioneer a03 and i love it, i can copy cdr backups as well as dvdr so i would say they are well worth it. Like Charlie stated, that would be up to you though, If you have ever tried to take the time to sucessfully rip a dvd game then you know the time consuming, hair ripping process this can be. Besides, by the time you copy 10 dvd games the burner has paid for itself.

THANKS ALOT!
SO IF I DO INVEST IN A DVD BURNER DO I NEED A DVD DRIVE TO READ DVD GAMES? |
No - the DVD burner will read the DVD. You use it to copy the game to disk and then burn it back to DVD-R. As I mentioned, tutorials for PrimoDVD and Nero are on ####://www.psxcopyworld.co.uk .

its worth it to me 2

ok i think im goin to save up now but when i get the dvd burner.. which port do a put it in? my lg cd burner or the reguar cd one?
|
Make the DVR the master device on the secondary IDE channel. If all your existing devices are IDE, consider dumping one of them - probably the reader because you don't need it. Then have the reader/burner as the slave on the secondary IDE port.

ANSWER: If you have an old modchip that allows a DVDR game to be played and if your new modchip doesn't, then it should be possible to leave the old one in and use its boot method. That's what I did. oo charlie or any1 out there, i got another qucik qestion.. i have a (US) ps2 so should i still be gettin the dvd region x or should i get another boot disc? ANSWER: DVD Region X is the simplest way to boot CD backups. Depends on your modchip as to DVDR method and you may well need GS2 for that. |
ok but what if i have jsut the origachip?can i still play original dvd's and other orginal games or just backups? and if i have the origachip, your saying i should stick to the dvd region x right?
