need help chipping ps2
 

i want to buy a japanese ps2 but was told that the mod chip for it will not let me play U.S original games. if this is true please let me know so i donot spend 400+ dollars on a system that i will not be able to play my o.g U.S games on.

I have a modded PS2 (Jap) and it plays American PS2 games fine. Just be careful on where you get yours modded.

Yes and no. I modded my Jap PS2 and it is now able to play US PS2 games (cool). However, it does not play the game from the original CD. You have to patch it and burn it to a CDR to play it. This presents a slight problem in that you can really only play the US PS2 games that you are able to find a patch for. http://www.megagames.com/console/console.htm is a great site for finding patches.
