Which type of CDs from which firm should I use to backup Dreamcast Disks?

Seeing posts: 1 since: 14-10-2001 and "to backup Dreamcast Disks". I can only assume you mean the ORIGINAL GAME DISCS, am I correct in assuming that?

psy_spy, if you mean what type of CDR is best for burning Dreamcast .CDI and .BIN images to, I have good results usiing CompUSA 80min/16x discs that come in 50ct spindles. They're gold labels and have a very faint green or champagne colored recording surface. They are about $19.95 per 50 discs.

If, however, you meant what discs to burn original Dreamcast games on (from the original Sega disc), forget it - it can't be done!!! You cannot **COPY** Sega Dreamcast discs. They must be *RIPPED* using a data cable between the Dreamcast machine and your computer, and then they must be hacked and some files downsampled or ripped totally out of the game so there's sufficient space on a disc to store the game.

No, I just mean which CDs I should use (eg. TDK-CDR74 Rexlex blue or red, Verbatim Data Life Plus CD-R blue...) to copy backuped Disks or to burn an iso file.

I've never had any trouble with Kodak, TDK or Verbatim disks

Verbatim ranked the highest in an important deep test made with many many branded CDRs... I've always trusted them and have been working flawlesly since 4 or 5 years...

Many people have found different results for different media. I have yet to find anything that didn't play in my DC. I will, however, state that the lighter the disk is, the better in my opinion.

Well there is one kind of CD that I have had a lot of trouble loading on some Dreamcasts and that is PINE CD's. They are very cheep to buy but then they are complete crap. The same CD will work on some dreamcasts and not on others, go figure.
If ever you see these CD's I would advise that you keep going and get another brand. I know that when you see CD's for less than 1/3 the price of the other brands it might be tempting but then you end up having too many hassles to make it worth the while...
