For those of you wondering if a $150 BBA (BroadBand Adapter) is worth on eBay...

... the answer is pretty simple: YES.

We all know BBAs are gone and become rare. They retailed from $65 and up to $120 in the online stores you were lucky to find them onto (Sega, LikSang...), but they're all gone now, and the only place you can find one is on eBay.

Now comes the price story: many ppl complaining about having to pay $150 (or even more! i just saw a "BUY NOW for $175" BBA the other day!) for a BBA...

STOP COMPLAINING! GET THE MAXIMUM OF IT!

The benefits of a BBA are many they're worth the price you pay (just be sure to buy it from a trusted seller, ie someone with a positive feedback). WHY?

Just give u 5 reasons:

- Lets you play online ####in' faster than eva! Q3 is a MUST see with a BBA!
- Not everyone has a friggin' T3 at home, many ppl is still with 56Kbps (or even slower) dialup modems! So download of already-made backups from the Internet is NOT an option!
- It takes just 1 hour to backup your original DC games ;) in front of the 24hours of a serial connection.
- You can backup your own country releases instead of foreign (JAP/US) language releases ;)
- AS for the price, well, $150 is the same that if you buy 3 original games ;) So use your maths and a calculator, you'll notice the games catalogue is much larger than 3 releases ;)

DC STILL RULES! It's the BEST Sega (home) machine up to date, with many users worldwide and is still competing against the others.

Now, still don't want one? Hurry!

*cough*

I think most of the people here have their own heads, with their own minds, and can make their own decisions. I really dont see the point of you advertising the BBA.

From my opinion the BBA is a completely useless POS needed only for professional gdrom rippers or newbies who want to buy all the kewl dc accessories. $150 is a total friggin ripoff and no one in their right mind would pay a stranger that much for a useless piece of outdated hardware. Plus there arent that many good online dc games out there and most of them seem to work fine on the 56k crap that came with the standard machine.

As for ripping, I just dont see any point to it,
1- you have to buy/rent the game
2- you have to learn to rip and hack the game
3- it takes me (1.5 mbit cable and trusty irc distro) less than an hour to download a game

So as far as personal reasons go, I still think the BBA is useless junk which only seriously dedicated players/rippers/collectors need. Regular foes like me and most of the ppl on this board can live just fine w/o it. But like I said everyone has their own minds, and now that you've seen the pros and cons you can spend your money in any way you like.

Yeah by the time Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, Pick-A-Flick, etc. have a game to rent, Echelon or Hooligans ripped it a solid week ago, so instead of waiting a week to rent the game and rip it yourself, you could of downloaded it yourself.

Far, far away from pretending selling anything nor advertising it, I was trying to clear some things off, as as I said, not everyone lives in the US, where megabit lines, T3, OC3 and stuff like that can reach your home in 10 days.

Here in Spain we're still geting into ADSL (yes, you read it right, A DSL) and it's not affordable by must of the people.

I'm also tired of getting JAP rips or even US (english) rips on RPG games like Skies of Arkadia, Shenmue or stuff like that. Those games, if not in your local language, are almost hard to play.

It's also slow to get a full working game even if you're lucky and have ADSL (it takes AT LEAST 6 hours to get a FULL ISO in the BEST of the cases), FTPs/Hotlines/Gnutellas are most often payfordownload, IRCrap is often waiting LONG queues to find out the next day that the fserve is gone and you 're still missing one simple .r?? file!, etc...

Also, as I said, DC still rules. We all know it's gone, no more hardware production, but the console still phuckin' rules. I don't also think you need to be a phuckin' professional ripper but given the amount of newbies crossing these forums I guess you compose such idea from "us". Most of people don't even write in here, just read and learn.

I don't also get your point on "paying a stranger"... eBay has provided me (again, no phuckin' advertising, just facts) with reliability on getting old stuff or rare items otherwise I could not get anywhere else... There are phuckers and cheaters everywhere, that's a fact also, but there's a thing called profile, another one called insurance and so on...

To my personal view, I mentioned "backup" to avoid entering into piracy discussion; I thought that's already OBVIOUS that if you pay $150 for a BBA, you won't buy a phuckin' game again, ever.

so:

1- you DON'T have to buy a game again if you don't want to.
2- Ripping is NOT that hard.
3- not everyone has your connection speed.

So as far as your personal reasons, it's obvious you don't need it ;) Was not trying to convince any1 but just replying to some posts I seen regarding overpriced items on ebay like the BBA...

I think it also goes with the market you live in. The US is the US and the rest of the world is... ok I won't enter in phuckin' politicals here....

... or is it a US only forum? ;) ;) ;)

You just made no "phucking" sense.
