Shenmue NTSC: Utopia Bootdisc Problems

HLELO

uhh. i have a pal dreamcast, and i just bought a US copy of shenmue. and for some naughty reason, my utopia bootdisc won't boot any of the discs. i know it's not the bootdisc, it boots my US copy of evolution just fine...anything i can do? PLZKTHXBYE

BrAvO_BoY 17-09-2001 10:49

Shenmue is selfbooting

ry0suck 17-09-2001 10:51

i'm not talking about a burned copy, i'm talking about a store-bought.

If it's store bought, then for one thing, you CERTAINLY won't need a boot disc. Try it without.

If you're still having problems, then go exchange it for another copy.

If you have problems after THAT, then I'd start looking into problems with the console itself.

I have the same problem, PAL Dc and NTSC original game ... my old utopia 1.1 doesn't boot Shenmue... now, I've been missing from the scene for a while and I can't actually remember if Utopia boot worked for ntsc originals on pal machines too or only for ISOS ... anyone can help? perhaps there's another software mod to play ntsc on pal DC ?

ry0suck 17-09-2001 13:56

utopia DOES work with playing NTSC orginials on pal, it works fine on my ntsc copy of evolution, i talked to my friend phil, and he says utopia just doesn't boot shenmue, and he's going to see what he can do for me.

Crow 17-09-2001 13:58

Okay - maybe I take that back. If you own a PAL DC, is the boot disc SUPPOSED to allow you to play the NTSC game normally? (Or vice-versa?)

ry0suck 17-09-2001 14:22

yes. the boot disc allows any game to be played on any system, but it's just not compatable with NTSC shenmue for some reason.
