Lolz: Can't open read file mapping
Hello everyone, every now and then I run into an issue with lolz where it complains that it can't open read file mapping
https://i.imgur.com/MDEAFQ7.png There isn't much of information regarding this error, so after hours of searching I found this thread https://krinkels.org/threads/lolz.3649/page-3 In that thread two users were discussing about what the mapping process is and if unarc.dll does not have admin rights, lolz would complain. The thing is, I set the setup.exe with admin rights and enabled windows 7 compatibility, but I still run into it. https://i.imgur.com/nQ1tgmx.png I placed the setup in a virtual machine, and sandbox(Sandboxie), and the setup ran fine. I tried running it with batch to unpack, and of course including the required cls dlls, yet still the same issue occurs. I disabled windows defender, it still persists. I've replaced unarc.dll with several versions, it still persists. I've disabled smart screen, restarted the computer, it still persists. https://i.imgur.com/dO9tZlr.png What could be the problem? Anyone has any ideas? |
Lolz compressor is not same as lolz decompressor
|
I understand but the whole thread is about decompressing using innosetup/batch.

i guess it can be srep too if you are using it with lolz but if its lolz then try unpacking the data file with the lolz_x64.exe rather than cls files.
try at first and update the post here |

I found this post https://fileforums.com/showthread.ph...e+read+mapping and I'm going to give what Simorq posted (LOLZ CD), apparently it uses FAZip. We'll see how it goes. Edit: The issue persists. Once again, srep is the culprit. I tested the archive using arc.exe t -i2 and tells me it's from srep. I'm going to recompress, if it persists, I will use something other than srep. But the fact that the installer works in sandboxie still boggles my mind. |
Use different version ! (SREP)

Requiring admin permission to run cls-lolz is a pretty big problem IMO.

If you want to extract through the CLI, just click on unarc.exe and go to properties and select the option run as administrator. This will make it extract normally.
