What newish cd writers can burn cdi files?

I recently purchased an Acer 1208 writer but it would not burn cdi files. Luckily i sold it on and am now looking for a new drive. Any suggestions? Does the 16x Yamaha IDE work??

I'd go with a plextor they make the best drives.
