Little brother gets angry at Dreamcast CD. Superglue? No..Help me!
I just biught my Dreamcast from Amazon.com and i absolutely love it. So i outplay the demo disc, and decide to buy Trickstyle. What a great game! But when my brother tries it, he doesnt like it as much as me. Since he doesnt know how to talk yet, he shows his disapproval by breaking the CD in half. Ow... OK so since im not a newbie to backing stuff up (I have computer Cds to, this happened to Quake3 and Asherons Call as well) I try to get an ISO. I find it, and download it, UnRAR it. I come up with this;
Kal-ts.bin Kal-ts.cue track_02.wav track_03.wav track_04.wav track_05.wav track_06.wav track_07.wav track_08.wav track_08.wav track_09.wav track_10.wav track_11.wav track_12.wav track_13.wav track_14.wav OK so i research this, and the nfo that came with the package sais i should use CDRWIN to burn the ISO. Leaving some questions. Am i missing track_01.wav, or will the CD Autoboot or will i need Utopia's boot CD. I have Nero, DiscJuggler, CDRWIN, and can get just about anything else needed. Im not new, but im a bit too young to know how to use dos, since i grew up on win3.1. CDRWIN is confusing though! I have 700meg CD-Rs, (Verbatim) Any help is appreciated, thx in advance. -±Splitfinity± |
well, about those tracks, I don't know. But as for writing the disc, just open CDRWIN and select record disc, and on source just open the cue file where you unzipped the game. Since its a bin and cue, that usually means your gonna need the Utopia boot disk to play it. So if you don't have one already, you can download one at www.dccopyworld.com I hope this helps at least a little bit, cuz since the games I download are always *.cdi files (which are self boot by the way) I don't have to much experience burnin with CDRWIN with DC games, but since PSX games needed that I do know a little about what I'm talkin about.

seems like you need to inject the audio tracks in your image. after you unrared it, it didnt give you a file called inject.exe? some groups will rip the cdda out of the game and mp3 them(saves space). then they usually supply you with the unpack and inject files. i have gotten a few games the did not have those files. unfortunately, i dont know how they are created. if i get more news, ill post

No, you don't inject audio into a BIN file. The CUE file has all the audio files listed prior to the BIN file, so it burns the audio first. Frankly, I've never gotten CDRWIN to work properly for me - I always get a coaster, so I break it down into data files and burn using Echelon's tutorial. The nice thing is, following the tutorial nets me a bootable disc!
You only inject audio on .CDI files (DiscJuggler). |
Hey Wayne as a matter of interest what sort of burner are you using ? I'm only asking as you don't seem to like CDRWIN much :) and as far as I know it works with nearly all burners.

Truthfully, it may be my CDRWin that's FUBAR. I didn't get a hack or crack for it, but found a serial number. CDRWIN says it's registered, but on CDRWin's website they warn to "Use serial #'s found on the Internet at your own risk". Perhaps they have locked out certain serials and made CDRWin act like it was accepted. Since it's been mentioned here several times that CDRWin is one of the most protected burner softwares out there and that it'll burn coaster after coaster if it's hacked/cracked, I'm thinking it also didn't like the serial # but it's lying to me, saying it's registered. What do you think? But I feel it's better to use a freeware program that works as expected (CDRECORD) than to use something that has to be hacked/cracked/etc, that may produce unwanted results. Especially since I'm converting all .BIN/.CUE files I get to self-booting versions, then I make a .CDI from that disc using DJ3, and zip it up and put it on a disc for future use. Heck, I just know the CDRECORD method has never failed to give me the expected results. |
If you use bad keys CDRWin will still say "thank you' but treat the keys entered accordingly.
