FAQ:

Q: I don't like the compression, can you create a version with a different compression?

A: No, if want to try a different compression feel free to do it yourself, just edit the Data1.ini file in the conversion's [Common\Settings] folder to try a different compression, for available options see the UCC Wiki.

Q: Will this conversion work with game version X?

A: Yes, it should

Q: The conversions doesn't work, I get an error or the compression unexpectedly stop in the middle, why?

A: There's really no reason for that in this case, please post a screenshots of your problem

Q: The Setup.exe doesn't work, why?

A: Make sure you have a 64bit Windows Operating System, EVOLVE requires Windows 7 64bit or newer, therefore the Setup was created to work on 64bit systems only.

I've tested multiple times before uploading, I had no problems at all, can you post a screenshot of your problem?

A couple of things to try though...

1. As a general rule, it is recommended to disable Anti-Virus until compression is done, it can sometimes cause problems.

2. Try creating the conversion in a different folder, maybe even a different partition on your hard drive, sometimes windows have all sorts of permission bugs which causes problems.

if neither of these help see if the problem persist on another computer or operating system.

Once you tried these, if the problem continues than let me know, I'll re-test it and see if I can help you further.

robbos21 14-03-2018 10:26

Everything you say there was done have no anti virus on at all and I have 10tb space and it goes to a 4tb drive for bkup and it just says error in freearc no numbers associated with that just error in frearc.......

And done on 2 Desktops windows 8+10 windows pro and a laptop windows 10 home so it not the operating system as did others no problems with compress.bat and ultrarc and they convert no problems this one is waste time and got the game install on all others with no problems and works fine......

vollachr 14-03-2018 12:13

The fact that it goes to a 4tb drive has nothing to do with what I said, I talked about permission problems not space problems. That's why I said to try a different drive and folder.

Anyway, try this and tell me if it helps...

Open the file data1.ini in the common\settings folder of the conversion, in the line that say method, after the equal sign, type sreplzma, save, close and try the conversion again.

It will take longer but it will at least tell me if your problem is related to the compression settings.

robbos21 15-03-2018 16:26

Not doing again used ultrarc version and no problems so this not neded and permissions are fine as well it the freearc error.........

Your choice but permission problems CAN cause errors in FreeArc, I've seen it happen multiple times.

That said, if you don't want to try again it's, as I said, your choice, just don't blame the conversion and don't tell others not to use because of a problem that so far only you have, it's rude & unfair, especially when you didn't even try to ask for help with the problem before giving a negative feedback.

Here's what I do know:

1. I've tested it before release multiple times, it worked perfectly.

2. The compression method is very customizeable , you can change it as you see fit in the Data1.ini file (like I explained in my previous post)

3. Until others report the same problem or you try again with changes in the Data1.ini file I have to assume the problem is specifically for you and not in the compression settings.

Don't get worked up over 'robbos21' comments, most of us just accept he can be rude and unfair and often gives negative feedback when the conversions work perfectly fine for everyone else. ;)
