Hi guys, here's another addition.

Freearc What Method - Funny name to call a program, well that's the question you guys keep asking on this forum, what method does some release group use, you're gonna get banned at some point.

So lets have an agreement, you must never post anything related to those RGs on this thread then you can download the attachment then use it privately for educational purposes.

I'm trying to cut the same questions that are always asked then after a few hours, thread has a lot of things that break forum rules.

Anyways, what this program "Freearc What Method" does is it tells you exactly what method was used on a certain archive regardless if it was compressed using normal or custom Freearc.

How to use?
All you do is get the RGs installation unarc.dll and add it in FreearcWM.ini, and copy dll to DLLs folder.
Set up what method you want to find within the archive, use reference on the arc.ini that came with the installation.
Drag and drop archive onto FreearcWM.exe then you will get information.

Success rate?
Well it has 80% success rate on the data sets I tested, some methods are truncated but they are filled up with common methods found on arc.ini which you must set up under "UsedMethods" section, then suggestion will be given as to what is the truncated method.
If archive has a lot of files, it becomes difficult to get method.
Any archive that has a password doesn't work.

Are you tempting me to go further and make it show file lists as to what method must you really use on what files or maybe what happened to the original files and how will they be put back together for restoration, or how compression was easily maximised.

Not a problem for me ;) I don't even password my archives for many months. Cause I don't care if someone will know my "super-secret-methods". Any FreeArc protection can protect only against script-kiddies. Devoted people will know any way.

thnx For the tool .. I tested it but didn't work for me :\ I added uarc.dll in Dlls & FreearcWM.ini but after i dragged & dropped i pressed enter & nothing happened
the program closed by itself .. win 7 64 - 6GB RAM ...
Tested on Need For Speed rivals repack & also MGS v Repack

Mate, programming is much more intelligent thing than looking in hex dumps. So OFC Razor can break FA.

Well i have a question here if the setup files of repackers out there uses freearc so why can't freearc open it themself?

But after seeing this i think they have modified it using its source, could be more than that or maybe they use there own made compressor that's why we can't understand the Methods..

copy the unarc.dll that comes with the installer you can locate it in the temp directory while setting up the game

as if passwords themselves cannot be broken.
You must be doing something wrong.

Well the headers are now altered and standard freearc doesn't understand crap which is why you really cant open them. I could put more focus and make a complete bypass but I respect the person who made up this idea of this encryption.

I can't even know what is wrong :D I followed all instructions but seems the error is related to incompatible or security issue :D Any way i'll test on other os & report back

Dude, you drag archive and drop it on FreearcWM.exe, don't run FreearcWM then drag it on CMD Window.

I opened it from cmd only to capture the image
i normally open it without cmd but it usually close after hitting enter :(:(

Do you know how to get unarc.dll from any repack ?? if you don't know so look at Temp directory while installing the repack

Here :
1. Start Task Manager.
2. Select the set.Uninstall Program.
3. Right Click on it and select "open file location"
4. If you don't see the files there then create a new WinRar Archive and open it after that go UP and you'll be able to see the setup files and Methods.

Hi Razor12911, I am an apprentice but I will follow the step. I want to learn to do repack of programs and plugins. I want to know if it makes me a tutorial to do a repack of zbrush, compression and using inno setup with the installer.
