replace all languages except enlish with some dummy files and save 1.3 gb

pakrat2k2 19-02-2012 00:08

why not just delete the languages you dont want, then add the update & do the conversion ?

senseman 19-02-2012 03:39

I re-viewed the conversion, patch support added. With patch it'll fit dvd5 too,

Good luck

senseman 25-02-2012 01:29

ok bro with patch 1.03 it works on Win7 x64 :D.
unfortunately the size gets a lot of bigger.

so i changed step 8 to this:

8: Go to install directory/data,run FreeArc,compress the following files

Code:

ep999-000.rmdp file

Output archive: Data5.cab
Compression: -m9x -ld192m -s256m
Make exe: Not checked

then it fits.

sorry for my bad english

thanks a lot for your work!

yener90 23-03-2012 05:30

tell me the hardware and where you tried your installation.

Sichi 23-03-2012 05:40

Code:

AMD Phenom II x4 940
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4
8GB RAM Kingston DDR2
ATI HD 4870
Windows 7 x64 Gamer (6.1, build 7600)

i'm installing it from a iso, in a virtual drive using daemon tools in the partition D: of my main hard disk (c: operating system, d: games)

could you provide an screenshot??
the installer gets untouchable while installing redist files.
after installling those files continues normally :/

yes, but it don't continue. don't report any error, only freeze and after about 15-20 min don't advance the install.

Sichi 23-03-2012 06:16

the problem could be i keep the folder 'soundtrack' and 'alan_wake_files' (deleted in the explain of patch 1.02)?
my Data1.cab size is 94.2 MB...

pakrat2k2 23-03-2012 07:12

data1.cab filesize is correct. Did you uninstall from dvd9 before trying dvd5 conversion iso's?

maybe senseman needs to add sizes of archives for each file so that if people have issues they can compare that to what they have.

Sichi 23-03-2012 07:21

Yes, I did it, I've unistalled the dvd9. Anyway the installation isn't in the same folder, I think it will be probably fixed in the setup.ini file, but I won't touch anything xD
Original folder: Remedy Entertainment
Conversion folder: Remedy Enternaiment

pakrat2k2 23-03-2012 08:26

where you install the game doesnt matter.. following the conversion steps does.

pay attention to the steps outlined in senseman initial post BUT read yener's post #13, about data5.cab ( uses different compression then what senseman posted ). What updates did/have you applied?

BAMsE 23-03-2012 08:50

Sichi so it installs redists only and nothing more? No files are copied to install folder? If yes, probably data1.cab is the problem. Try to prepare it once again and with different method (-m0 or -mx -ld800)

Sichi 23-03-2012 08:55

BAMsE true, there are more files in the folder, i'll try again and post a screen. :)

pakrat2k2 i think the yener's post #13 is irrelevant for now, beacause the installer hasn't asked me for the 2º disk =S
anyway, i'll compress Data5.cab like yener's post

no need delete any files ('soundtrack' and 'alan_wake_files)'..Just follow the conversion step by step...if you have troubles check your system

i'll add pictures about v1.05 soon

pakrat2k2 23-03-2012 10:06

no necesarily pictures, but list what the filesize for each cabfile should end up at. That way if someone has an error then they can compare what they ended up with, to what it should be.

Sichi 23-03-2012 12:19

yeah yeah yeah yeah!!! i got it!!!
my solution for this problem is:
don't compress the Data1.cab omg hahahhahahaha
Make Data1.cab but don't compress it and the installation will complete without any problems!! (for me)

Thanks a lot all for give me her help ^^

BAMsE 23-03-2012 13:01

Sichi good to hear that :) I've noticed it several times that sometimes archives done with -m4 method stucks but I don't know why

THADEADMAN2011 23-03-2012 17:39

I don't know if anyone has noticed but in the setup ini file under install options it says
Publisher=Remedy Enternaiment
when it should say Publisher=Remedy Entertainment
i did the conversion not realizing this an it just sat there
but once i figured it out and also changed the compression on data1 file
as Sichi stated and all went smooth

pakrat2k2 23-03-2012 18:39

good eye on the spelling typo ;)

THADEADMAN2011 23-03-2012 21:24

i always keep a good eye where things install on my system
thats when i noticed the wrong folder name
as i just recently redid my pc and only have 3 games installed atm lol

senseman 24-03-2012 14:12

There are some problems on my computer, technical issues
i'll add pictures and details v1.05 soon

senseman 25-03-2012 01:47

At the end should look like this,no need delete any files ;) Apologies for the delay,Tested and it's running smooth...Just follow the conversion step by step ;)

HellRazor 08-04-2012 16:23

I encountered same problem as @Sichi.
May I suggest that you change step 5's compression from Normal to No Compression or to High Compression? Even if you set higher tier of compression, it does not matter too much because initial .cab file is not that big. Decompression of that archive is not taking long.

Works with both of those, and as someone else wrote, Normal sometimes tends to fu*k things up. I encountered same problem with Arkham City. Installation was bugging out until I changed .cab's compression level from normal to something else.

senseman 09-04-2012 11:45

hellrazor

step5

146mb(incl nodvd)....after compress 94 mb...then it fits..
No compression: -m0 not fits DVD5
