[REQ] Prince of Persia SoT 3in1 Edition Simple CD-Check Removal
So, I've just got a Prince of Persia 3 in 1 collection that includes the complete Sands of Time trilogy.
I'm able to start Warrior Within without the disc inside my drive. Unfortunately, this doesn't work with the other two games of the series. I know for sure that they are only protected with a simple disc check since I've created standard Nero-images of the originals and could easily play both games without the disc in drive by just mounting the images through Daemon Tools. So, here comes my question: Is there anyone willing to remove the CD-check from the two executables? There could be some hidden advantages of using them instead of the ones, that had a copy protection but were eventually cracked, as they are clearly newer and could include hidden changes or bugfixes. Here they are: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WQYLG3L0 |
Both executables must have a binkw32.dll in their directory (and maybe more dlls).
Upload them, so i can start debugging and crack the exes. |

By the way, you can download Bink-related stuff from http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm. ;)

As the game seems to load some big archive files before the disc check, i had to guess what to do.
If this cracks dont work, i can try 2 other things. Thx for the link Joe. |

The Two Thrones now works perfectly without the CD in drive. It's really comfortable not having to insert the disc any longer :) Unfortunately, The Sands of Time doesn't start properly though. I end up with a black screen without the hard disk doing anything. It appears as if the game tried to play a movie file or so but apparently failed. I hope it can be fixed somehow. Anyway, thanks again for all the great work! |
The disc check routine is 100% identical in both files and i fixed them both times the same way.
Make a list of the files on the The Sands of Time disc, so i can see what files or folders you have to copy from the disc to hdd. You can also use Process Monitor and send me the log (in .csv format) that was made while you started the game with original .exe and disc in drive. |
I have these files and folders on the DVD:
Folders: "Autorun" - contains subfolders "Pop_Font", "Pop_GFX" and files "UbiAutorun.exe", "UbiAutorun.ini", "unicows.dll", "VBRun60sp5.exe" "Support" - contains subfolders "Directx", "Documentation", "Register" Loose Files: autorun.exe Autorun.inf data1.cab data1.hdr data2.cab engine32.cab layout.bin POP.EXE PrinceOfPersia.ico Setup.bmp setup.boot setup.exe setup.ini setup.skin Well, to me none of them looks suspicious but there must be something preventing the game from starting and just forcing a black screen to show up. Edit: Oh and btw. the game works fine with your exe if the disc is inside. |

If that file does not work, use ProcessMontior and send me the log (csv format) you made while starting the game with disc in drive.
And whats inside Pop_Font", "Pop_GFX" ? |

Surprisingly though, Warrior Within refuses to start now without a CD in drive. I'm probably going to download the unprotected exe here from gcw for it to fix this issue or reinstall the game. Seems really odd to me. Anyway, once again thanks for all the hard work, makes gaming much more comfortable. Edit: The unprotected exe for Warrior Within from gcw now doesn't work either, it keeps demanding for the disc, really strange. |
Send me WW .exe and dlls, i have only pop.exe and pop3.exe stuff.

Thanks once again :)
The game now starts, but unfortunately, it suffers from the same problem that occured yesterday with the executable for the Sands of Time, the screen just stays black without change :( Would it be possible to fix the issue as it was with SoT? |

New try. Updated file.

Thanks a lot! :)
That did the trick. Now, all three games run without the DVD in drive. Just great! |
