Venetica patch error
I have an error while I want to update the Venetica to 1.02 using the official patch.
It give me an error saying couldn't undentify the installed version of Venetica. Debug: 5b1ed729004ef3e97bbc6487aa926921". What can i do to prevent this? |
Some game file may be missing or corrupted. Uninstall and reinstall the game (backup your savegames!!!) If still no luck, use Sysinternals' Process Monitor to find out which file it is searching for/accessing when the error message is displayed and then tell us.
|
I have uninstalled and reinstall but I still have the same problem....
Can you tell me what is Sysinternals' Process Monitor? |
Does the patch match your games language version?

If not, post back up. The files can be manually extracted from the patch and overwritten if need be. |
I couldn't find a German-only 1.02 patch on Patches Scrolls: http://dlh.net/cgi-bin/dp.cgi?lang=e...earch=venetica. The European multilanguage (EFIGS) patch can be unpacked with innounp.
|
I'm using EFIGS patch and I get that error.
Anyway, what program can manually unpack or extract the patch to the game folder? |
As Joe said, innoup (the patch file has been created with innosetup), or similar extraction tool.
|
But remember: innounp will just unpack the installation package as it is packaged, you yourself will have to find out which file goes where in the game's installation directory!
|
I don't understand how to make that.
Can someone make a tutorials please? |
What tutorial? Download innounp (search for it on the Web), and run it like this: innounp -x insert_here_the_name_of_the_installer.exe.
|
I'm using Windows 7 Professional and I have problem on opening innounp.
Is a batch file right? |
cmd or batch, right.
Batch is the easiest way, copy executable to dir where innounp is, and make a batch like Joe wrote and you're good to go. |
Or do some of you free to use teamviewer and help me?
|
Whats the problem!? You've mentioned batch, Joe told you how, now you know what to write in the batch, so..?
|
That's as clear as you'll get :) |
Thanks man.
But I download innounp.exe and click it to run, it just open for not even 1sec and it close. I'm using Windows 7. Can someone help me? |
sigh...

It say the path or dictory is wrong. |
Use/start using/get used to a decent file manager like FAR Manager or Total Commander; Windows Explorer is a useless pile of crap as it hides most details from what really is happenning, making you a "crippled" user.
|
Dude, I am so noob.
Still didn't get what you guys trying to tell me :( |

omg...put the batch from test.rar in the folder where you've innounp, right click on test.bat, edit and check if the exe name is right, if it's not the same, change it and save the batch.
Put the venetica_patch_102_efigs.exe in the dir where innounp is. Run test.bat. |
I do what you said but nothing happen?
Or someone can extract the patch for me and I download from Megaupload or somethings? |
unbelievable, if you did, it'd worked.
What more can we do, everything is said. |
Agreed. Please, ask a computer-literate friend of yours to help you with using command line-based programs.
|
Thanks!
Is working already. Mod please close thread? |
