Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage

Hi all, yesterday I bought fallout 3 operation anchorage but I don't know how to play it. I started the normal fallout 3 but I don't know how to play operation anchorage. Any help would be appreciated.

DABhand 10-07-2009 05:32

If you bought it clearly states how to activate it and what has to be done.

Check readme files etc that came with the addon.

TippeX 10-07-2009 08:24

use the launcher - click data files
make sure you put the esm file into the \data folder in the folder you installed the game into
make sure it is checked in the datafile portion
close datafile window
click play... done

Mr.Fedo 10-07-2009 12:02

well I did all that but when I play it is the same normal fallout 3, I even got out of Vault 101 but it's still the same

DABhand 10-07-2009 12:54

You didnt read at all.. If you did read the text that comes with it, you will have noticed it says wait for a bit out in the wastes and you will pick up a signal.. Follow the signal to the source to find the expansion part.

Not really master of the games :P

Mr.Fedo 10-07-2009 13:44

oh I thought I am ;), but does it work if I played from a saved game? 'cuz I don't want to play the game from the beginning. thanks for the replays

TippeX 10-07-2009 15:13

works fine if played from a save game

Mr.Fedo 11-07-2009 06:35

is there a specific place I should go to so I can get the radio signal?

TippeX 11-07-2009 07:54

nope u just walk and walk, takes 5 - 15 mins or so to kick in...
did you also update the game to the latest version?
are you 100% sure the esm file is setup to be loaded (like i mentioned before) ?

Mr.Fedo 11-07-2009 09:14

yes I updated the game but I'll try to play longer and I'll tell u what happened, and thanks for the help

Mr.Fedo 12-07-2009 09:36

I walked more than 5 minutes in the wasteland but there is no radio signal yet :S

TippeX 12-07-2009 09:58

seriously...

1. run the launcher
2. click 'data files'
3. scroll through the data files, make sure 'anchorage.esm' is selected (if it is not present, please make sure the anchorage.esm file is in the \data directory, in the folder you installed fallout 3 into)...
4. click ok
5. click play
6. walk around for a few mins and wait for the radio signal

(assumption also made that you've upgraded to the latest patch)...

(also, if you're using any other esm's etc, which are NOT any of the dlc, it might also be a good idea to uncheck them in step 3)...

Mr.Fedo 12-07-2009 10:07

the patch that I installed is V1.4.0.6 and it's name is "Fallout3_v1.4.0.6_UK_English"
and I have fallout 3 the pitt but in the data files it's not checked, only Fallout3.esm and Anchorage.esm are checked

TippeX 12-07-2009 11:39

it should work then, selecting the pitt can't hurt either
think the latest patch is 1.6 (going from a google search and a check on the bethesda site... so you might want to update)...

Mr.Fedo 13-07-2009 03:41

I thought that 1.4 was the latest patch! I downloaded the 1.6 patch and I'll try it now

Mr.Fedo 13-07-2009 11:08

I walked for about 10 minutes but I didn't get the radio signal :S is there a 1.7 patch? maybe 1.6 is not the latest patch

Joe Forster/STA 13-07-2009 11:10

See http://dlh.net/cgi-bin/dp.cgi?lang=e...arch=fallout+3

Mr.Fedo 13-07-2009 11:36

then the 1.6 is the latest patch, so why can't I get the signal? :(

TippeX 13-07-2009 12:05

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/fallo...044&pid=918428

that might help, other people claim they got the signal when they were OUTDOORS only, and others claim you 100% need to install the patch, otherwise the signal ever happens, seems quite a mess to be honest...

so, check you installed the patch correctly - right click the fallout3.exe, select properties, look at the detals, file version should be 1.6.0.3

then check anchorage is definately checked in the data files

might also be an idea to check that vista thing too, as you haven't mentioned if your copy is from steam, retail etc...

OMG!! the file version of Fallout3.exe is 1.0.0.12 and the version of the launcher is 1.2.14.0, but I'm sure that I installed the patch! see these screen shots ...

I found the place! but I didn't get the radio signal, anyway while I was helping defeating the mutants I found a new problem, take a look at this ...

Mr.Fedo 14-07-2009 09:51

why is that exclamation mark there? there is no where I can go and I can't use button

TippeX 14-07-2009 10:14

i think you might be best reinstalling it... something is definately messed up, but at least we're making progress...

Mr.Fedo 15-07-2009 09:11

It worked! thanks for your help :) but there is another problem, I finished operation anchorage and I want to play the pitt but I can't check anchorage.esm or thepitt.esm in the data files, when I check any of them and exit the launcher they get back unchecked I don't know why. so what should I do?

TippeX 15-07-2009 12:33

hmm that sounds quite strange, first thing i'd do is do a virus scan, are you using the cracked launcher? are you loading any other mods that aren't from bethesda? (if so, uncheck them). might also be an idea to run a checkdisk on your drive, right click it in explorer, select properties, go to tools, select 'error checking' and have it check the drive.. also select it to fix any errors it finds... and again, if it finds anything (virus or disk error), then you might have to reinstall again, install patch etc.. something's definately messing with your system, and its hard to tell whether its virus / trojan or defective hard disk...

Mr.Fedo 15-07-2009 15:54

It worked!! I re-installed the game and used the cracked launcher and it just worked!! I really appreciate your help guys VERY MUCH and thank you TippeX for everything :)

TippeX 15-07-2009 17:20
