1 Attachment(s)
Make new folder Disk 1 and Disk 2

1. Copy all files and folders to Disk 1

2. Download Attachment 1745 and extract the file "autorun.rar" to extract the file "autorun.dat"

3. Replace the original "autorun.dat" with this edited "autorun.dat".

4. Move the following files and folder to Disk 2.

"movies" folder
data_gf.cab
data_gf1.cab
data_gf2.cab
data_gf3.cab
data_gf4.cab
data_gf5.cab
data_mp6.cab
data_mp7.cab
data_mp8.cab
data_mp9.cab
data_m10.cab
data_m11.cab
data_m12.cab
data_w13.cab
data_t14.cab
GODFATH2.viv

5. Copy the files and folders from Disk 1 to Disk 2

"Autorun" folder
"DirectX" folder
"Redustributable" folder
"Support" folder
"TeamSpeak" folder
autorun.dat
Autorun.exe
autorun.inf
EASetup.exe
GDFBinary.dll
GF2.ico

6. Disk 1 should only contains this files and folders.

"Autorun" folder
"DirectX" folder
"Redistributable" folder
"Support" folder
"TeamSpeak" folder
autorun.dat
AutoRun.exe
autorun.inf
EASetup.exe
GDFBinary.dll
GF2.ico
GODFATH0.viv
GODFATH1.viv
Group0.cab

7. Burn Disk 1 with label: GF2_1
8. Burn Disk 2 with label: GF2_2

Install Sequence: DVD1-DVD2- Open Task Manager and End Task all msiexec.exe and EASetup.exe that are present.

Tested works.

NOTE:
The installer will give an error "Please insert disk The Godfather 2" at the very end of Disk 2 because of the missing "Joypad_example_txt or #joypad.cab" at sequence "3728". It was the last file that I did not found inside my DVD... But the game works perfectly without it.

If someone can try fixing it that would be great. thx.

dark_prince69, you seem to be only one who edited embedded mst's

is there reason for DISK1 and DISK2 disk prompts? you added those on english install but other languages have original disk prompt + 1 or 2 at end depending of disk.

Little suggestion.

If there is no install errors for using other than DISK1/DISK2 then i would use The Godfather™ II DVD 1 and The Godfather™ II DVD 2 instead for english also.

EDIT: @animex2k9, error at end of disk2, joypad.cab is embedded into autorun.dat, so copy autorun.dat also on DVD2 and that might fix missing error in your conversion

canibus2677 07-04-2009 13:01

dark_prince69 your coversion is good but it's asking for disk2 too early, try to edit autorun.dat by putting the GODFATH0.viv and GODFATH1.viv on disk1 and the rest of the .cab on disk2 see if it's working!!

dark_prince69 07-04-2009 13:33

ravd, there's no install errors, I changed to its original name adding the 1 & 2 on front of each, I'll be uploading in rapidshare in a few minutes.
canibus2677, I don't see what seems to be the problem with asking the DVD earlier, I think there's no need to mess around with the embedded mst files anymore , I guess..or Is It?

try that one.
couldnt test it.

make the same like in peterf conversion, but use this msi.

the label:
disc 1=Godfather II
disc 2=Godfather II_2

ravd 09-04-2009 10:41

Some suggestions which "might" fix error

1. Run setup.exe instead autorun.exe

2. Change diskprompt and label only for dvd1, leave dvd2 as it is (worked for quantum of solace and some other games, but problem with this was that it asked installation disk at end of disk 2 when it wasn't needed)

Or it is non-fixable windows problem, same error happens sometimes even with original discs (GTA IV)

I know, this game is very old, but i put my hands on it just today... i was looking for a conversion and found here, but in a DVD1-DVD2-DVD1 sequence, so i made my conversion with DVD1-DVD2 sequence, i hope you enjoy...

Just replace autorun.dat

and look at screens:

dvd1.png -> dvd1 contents

Attachment 1740

dvd2.png -> dvd2 contents

Attachment 1741

durring the installation you'll get this:

Source file not found: E:\GODFATH0.viv. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

Attachment 1742

Just mount or insert the second DVD and click Retry...

When the installation finished it will say:

The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume Godfather II into drive E:

Attachment 1743

just press cancel several times if appear again.

and the game is installed:

Attachment 1744

i hope you enjoy it.

cheers
