GH3 doesn`t work on Athlon XP processor
 

Did anyone have the same problem? I double click on icon and nothing happens. I read somewhere that game won`t run on XP processors. Is there a patch or fix? It`s really annoying.

1. Please tell us "What is GH3?" !!!
2. Do you use a crack or your original disc?

I think GH3 is Guitar Hero 3.

Oh, sorry, I though everyone knows. Of course its Guitar Hero III. And I have original version, but cracked so I don`t must insert DVD every time I want to play. The same happens when I try to play on not-cracked version.

But there is nothing mentioned about Athlon XP. I`m just wondering, my friend has Athlon x64 and game is working on his computer.

Search on google for >>+"guitar hero 3" +"system requirements"<< and, in some of the first hits already, you'll see that the game requires an Athlon x64 (I'm sure the manual says the same) so your Athlon XP is below the minimum system requirements.

But it should pass at least minimum requirements. And, as I say, there is nothing mentioned that the game is not supported by XP processors. Hope Aspyr release a patch or something....

CPU Processor: Intel Pentium D (Dual Core) 2.8GHZ or AMD Athlon 64 3500+

The box in the shop says the same.

Do you understand that the Athlon XP is an older CPU than the Athlon x64?

Yes, I understand, but even games like Call of Duty 4, Crysis, Gears of War which requires more powerful processor works for me fine. Well, all I can do is wait for fix or patch...

One of the hits on Google says the reason for the high system requirements is that it's a port from the console version rather than written specifically for the PC.

So it means I must change processor and, whats worse, motherboard. Maybe Aspyr will published a patch for it just like one of the polish developers (Metropolis Software I think) do with one of their game. So, Athlons XP does not support SSE2 module and this is the main problem, so games like Lost Planet or DiRT won`t run also. But, as I said, its not a huge problem, and Aspyr can resolved it in few days, but I don`t think they`ll do that.

I wouldnt hold my breath, the XP processors dont include instruction sets that the game requires to run. So I doubt the developer will try and rewrite the game just to include old out of date XP chips.

Probably needs SSE2 support and Ahtlon XP is just SSE?

idk what kinda rig your running to be playing crysis on an out of date athlon xp processor just fine. im running a amd 64 3200+ 2gb ram Geforce 6800 256mb and can not smoothly run crysis on medium settings. cod4 and gears of war on the other hand run smooth. and GH3 has to be on low for me to run it free of lag.
