StarForce FrontLine 5.0

A new version arrives: http://www.star-force.com/protection.phtml?c=83&id=1072

Galaxian 26-05-2007 12:29

i legally buy my games, i have no use nor need for such trash.
all 4.7 did for me was prevent me from playing at all where i then have to take it back and pay 15% restocking fee and absolutly no response for help from its makers, no email, confirmation...not even a F*** you, so i hope the company dies and gets what it deserves

ByteMare 29-05-2007 13:34

Umm..ok..but...what's new? A shitload of blacklisting?

anonymous1381 29-05-2007 13:46

Absolutely nothing.

TippeX 29-05-2007 16:02

theres games out with it already? if so, which ones (curious, and it'll help the community if you can list them)

ByteMare 30-05-2007 08:50

yeah...to avoid them;)

TippeX 30-05-2007 09:47

exactly, and so cdkiller can add the detection :)

cdkiller 30-05-2007 17:05

i havenīt seen a higher version than 4.70.08.xx yet.
according to a forum quote LOKI is supposed to have SF 4.80 and should be out in a few weeks.

edit:
downloaded the demo of DiRT and scanned it

Scanning -> E:\DiRT Demo\DiRTDemo.exe
File Type : Exe, Size : 8900096 (087CE00h) Byte(s)
[!] Starforce v3.4 - v4.7 wrapped !

Scanning -> E:\DiRT Demo\protect.dll
File Type : Dll, Size : 12087760 (0B871D0h) Byte(s)

hi i might give u the name of a game that employs starforce5. but it's a chinese rpg game. "仙剑奇侠传4" (4cd game with sf5) u can find the game in the net. no one there in china can bypass this thing. (although there are rumors that some1 successfully bypass it but the guy won't publish it, he said he want the original game to benefit for a longer period of time *duh*... whatever the reason is...) maybe some guy here can find a way to bypass it? u know how the starforce protected cd wrecks your cd-rom right? i 1 2 play this game but i hate starforce... so if someone can bypass its cd protection pls let everyone know...

thank you

The Pile of Malware strikes back

caki 11-08-2007 13:33

If it no longer has any drivers, I don't see whats wrong with it...

Actually I see it as something bad I has gave me validation disk problems, don't validate sometimes even the original, is very intrusive. Sometimes the sf driver craps off snd since all SF games you have depend of the same drive wonīt start any of them Give compatibity problems with some games that use them and Windows Vista. Panzers 1 y 2 was a reason why this malware was removed off them (the game could be playable but the driver ruin it). I has happened with other games also

I am not against copy protection in games but they should Securom 7 ,Safedisk, I don't know normal things but not this kind of malware copy protection

TippeX 12-08-2007 16:20

well you argument is sort of dead considering v5 is meant to be dropping the drivers, so it will be less intrusive, sure it wont help for existing games, but hopefully it brings along less problems in the future, we just have to wait and see

nfs_52006 13-08-2007 12:00

yo anyone see my previous post yet? (just want to make sure =D)

btw i heard someone is able to bypass the SF5.0 using daemon tool pro, which does not appear on SF5.0 blacklist. can anyone verify this? i tried to install daemon tool pro but my adware detector keep prompting me that there is an adware in the program (WhenUsave) and prevent me from using the program. that's the only thing that keeps me from verifying the theory.

anyone got the link to "adware free" daemon tool pro? pls post it. tq

TippeX 13-08-2007 16:48

link to "adware free" daemon tools pro is WAREZ... check the rules again please
and the daemon tools pro registered does NOT have adware in it....

nice try...

ByteMare 15-08-2007 03:12

Nice to see that they will ditch the drivers and probably go for some heavy vm obfuscation under ring-3 (?) Think I saw a post on some reversing board...
Maybe I'll actually will start buying sf-prot:ed games again...:D

nfs_52006 15-08-2007 05:44

hello i get the daemon tool pro and i get a virus in that .dll file. any way to solve that?

Joe Forster/STA 15-08-2007 06:51

@nfs_52006: This is NOT the Daemon Tools support forum. (Also, read the PC Games form FAQ for comments on false positives by stupid virus scanners...)

Hm... Adding this to your previous post... Warez? Some "raped" DT Pro Version are known to have a virus-alike hacked no-adware-dll.

Damned kiddies. Just buy a licence for software u use. We do.

Like Norton

Don't take this bad Norton users but I think NAV is for noobs

Joe Forster/STA 17-08-2007 03:55

Unfortunately, you cannot know how good or bad a virus scanner is before you actually (download the trial/buy the full version of it and) start using it... unless you even read third-party, unbiased (!) reviews about it beforehands.

Well the Norton one I had it but I stoppend using it like in 2005 version I hated always turned my computer in a resource hog

And with the Norton Internet Security suite I wasn't very happy either too much pain configuring the internet access to the programs even when were configured still was some problem to connect and those false hacking attempts NIS alerted every 5-10 minutes really anoyyed me

btw,the ways of copy an originall cd from Star Force Copy Portected Ones have issued.it can bypass the StarForce Protection in the game.

Jada^AoC 29-08-2007 11:05

Greetz Jada^AoC

ByteMare 31-08-2007 09:31

nfs_52006 14-09-2007 00:31
